10 Awards to nominate a Diverse Woman, Organisation or Company for.
You blink and Q3 of the year comes,? meaning it’s also award season! A lot of people within the Construction Industry don’t know where to look or how to nominate someone who deserves an award. Most people usually find out late in the year about awards too, so we’re letting you know months in advance!
Online features like our HERStories, HERConversations and WomenInSenior are great, but alongside this, awards are also a great way to shine light on women consistently excelling and pushing to make a difference across the Construction Industry.
There are some amazing awards which applications have already closed for such as:

The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) Awards by The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)
The Top 50 Women in Engineering Awards #WE50 by Women's Engineering Society
However there are 10 other award ceremonies that are still open for nominations! Below is our list of other awards across the Built Environment that you or your company should nominate a woman across the industry for. As an individual, you can also nomination the company you work for if you believe they deserve it! (don’t worry, we’ve also included some categories for this below).?
We will be attending as many as we can with a few GUC Ambassador reps to also celebrate the winners :)
1. Inspiring Women in Construction and Engineering Awards?by Construction News & New Civil Engineer
This recognises the outstanding achievements of an individual and company striving to make the construction industry and their company a great place to work for women. Each category is designed to showcase both individual and company wide initiatives.

These categories celebrate amazing women, teams, initiates and forward-thinking companies including the best contractors, consultants and businesses in the sector.

2. National Apprenticeship Awards?by Department for Education ?
The National Apprenticeship Awards challenge top apprenticeship employers, apprentices and those who champion apprenticeships across England to come forward and show how apprenticeships have made a real difference to their organisation and careers.
The Apprentice of the Year categories are looking to recognise those who are working towards, or have recently completed, their apprenticeship. The Employer of the Year categories are open to employers from all sectors and celebrates employers who can showcase their commitment, contribution and the success that apprenticeships have brought to their company:

3. Top 100 Influential Women in Construction by National Federation of Builders
These nominations help to shine a light on those that are working to support Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Equity across the Industry through their actions and support of others. The Top 100 Women In Construction Awards brings together the biggest and best names in the industry to celebrate the women that are breaking down barriers and inspiring future generations of construction leaders. These awards are voted for by the industry itself and the shortlist/winners will be announced on the night.

4. Women in Construction Awards?by Design and Build UK
This award highlights women’s contribution to the industry, time in the industry, how they have helped to attract others to the industry, problems they have overcome, achievements within their sector, reasons they have been nominated and their future plans.

5. RICS Matrics Young Surveyor of the Year Awards by RICS
These prestigious awards provide an opportunity for individuals and employers to celebrate the highest standards of professionalism and innovation within the built environment. They recognise those who have made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of the industry, while also celebrating them as leaders in their field.

6. BPIC Awards?by BPIC Network
BPIC Network is a built environment business working with industry organisations to improve ethnic minority representation. The vision is to facilitate careers in construction as well as to work with organisations looking to improve the diversity of their employees, including the advancement of black and ethnic minority professionals.

7. CIBSE Young Engineer Awards?by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers
This award recognises the innovative thinking, hard work and skills of graduate engineers, whilst also showcasing employers who are truly committed to developing and encouraging young talent.

8. The New Civil Engineer Graduate & Apprentice Awards by Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)
These awards are designed to recognise and reward the most inspiring civil engineering graduates and apprentices.

9. London Construction Awards?by London Build Expo
The London Construction Awards celebrates achievements, developments and innovation across the UK’s booming construction industry and features a wide range of categories for solution providers, suppliers, contractors, architects, civil engineers, developers, local authorities and more.?

10. AFBE-UK 3rd Gala & Awards?by Association for Black and Minority Ethnic Engineers (AFBE-UK)
The AFBE-UK Gala & Awards night celebrates the growing diversity of engineering landscape and the contribution of companies and individuals to the industry. Bringing an unmatched level of recognition in front of industry peers, the awards provide companies and individuals with a springboard for growth, as well as inspiring the next generation and the industry to keep evolving.
Entries are open to all individuals and UK-registered companies within the engineering sectors. The Categories for this award are:?

11. Inspirational Business Women In STEM & Construction?by Business Women In STEM
This campaign is an opportunity to identify inspirational female business owners in STEM and Construction, who can act as role models to the future generations. These are women challenging the status quo, in typically male dominated sectors. The criteria for this award:
?? Are you an inspirational business woman in Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths?
?? Do you know an inspirational business woman in STEM?
??Do you/they own all or part of the business??
??Has your/their business been trading for more than 12months?
