2022, a year for recalibration.

2022, a year for recalibration.

For many, Christmas and the New Year is about family-time and reflection, and that’s certainly the case for me this year.

A few weeks ago, my wife and I were delighted to welcome a healthy baby girl into the world and are looking forward to celebrating the festive period as a three (or four if you count Gogo the dog!) for the very first time.?

I’m also looking forward to taking some time to reflect on the year. 2022 was set to be the start of our collective journey as we built back from the pandemic, but the last 12 months have again been filled with many unpredictable challenges.

The invasion of Ukraine in February was not only one of the biggest humanitarian crises of our generation, but also sent shockwaves through global markets. We felt this through our own operations with the instability of the tech and financial sector, but also in the conversations we’re having with our customers, who are navigating ongoing supply chain disruption and fluctuating energy prices.

Despite all of the above challenges (which also led us to shutting down our IPO in March!), I’m super proud that Team EO has continued to work tirelessly throughout the year to support the electrification needs of our customers, and as a result, helped many of them to reach critical milestones.

The work that we are collectively doing as an industry is imperative if we are to truly shift to zero emission mobility. As an industry, we must constantly challenge and innovate the services we provide to ensure we continue to grow and tackle the evolving needs of our customers. That’s why for EO, 2022 was largely about taking stock and recalibrating.

Recalibrating our hardware

For a start, we revealed our next generation of commercial and domestic chargers - the EO Genius 2 and EO Mini Pro 3. This was the culmination of a project that started nearly two years ago, packing insights and learnings from our customers into two of the smartest chargers on the market. I’m delighted that our first customers are already seeing the benefits of the product evolution for themselves, but we’re looking forward to helping many more in the new year.?

Recalibrating our fleet software proposition?

Perhaps one of the biggest developments for EO over the last twelve months is the work we have done to elevate our fleet software proposition, launching the new EO Cloud 2.?

Whether talking to new or existing customers, we know that businesses are looking for a partner that can invest time and resources to understand their fleet and provide a tailored service that makes the switch as easy as possible.

That’s why we’ve introduced a host of new features to our platform, built hand-in-hand with some of our biggest customers to address their most pressing needs.

  • The EO Cloud 2 now boasts over 15 brands and 40 different models of AC & DC chargers
  • It has over 10,000+ connected devices globally
  • It’s currently live in over 10 countries
  • GWh's and GWh's of energy is consumed and managed through the platform each month

Recalibrating our team?

We’ve also been joined by a number of new hires over the past 12 months - new colleagues in the UK, Europe and in North America, as well as in our fast-growing eBus and eTruck division.

We’ve long been helping fleets transition to electric - but eBus will be a particular focus for us over the next 12 months. Bus operators face unique electrification challenges - substantial upfront purchase costs, large scale infrastructure upgrades, increased power requirements, flexible charging requirements - and our incredible team, led by Keith Watson, is here to help.

Whilst we’re lucky to be powering some of the biggest fleets in the world already, we’re still only at the beginning of our growth journey. The leadership team and I remain relentlessly focussed on making EO the industry leader in EV fleet charging.?

I’d like to thank our employees, customers and partners for your ongoing support and look forward to working together in the new year.

Wherever you are in the world, have a wonderful festive break and we’ll see you in 2023!
