Why I launched PIP: It was important for me to show the independent community there's an abundance of hidden opportunities and how easy it is to create your next big break instead of waiting for it.

My first job in the music industry was marketing, promotions, and front-of-house administration at 3MG Recording Studios here in Atlanta.

A month later, I began working on the label side and eventually became an A&R and the CEO's unofficial yet very official assistant ???

When I wasn't in the studio, I shadowed him. Whenever I heard "Aye Kee, let's ride." I knew I would end up somewhere a girl from North Carolina had never been and learn something I'd never known.

This part of my journey showed me the many roles and moving parts it takes to get legs on a record (momentum), traditionally.

I also learned the importance of relationships, but what really stuck out was the importance of the song. No amount of money can make someone like your song.

Oh yeah, not to mention I was also accepted to Clark Atlanta University. I started in the fall of 2015.

That year I met my guy Daniel "A1" Iykyk, and he started showing me how things worked at his level. So I became an active observer and listener.?

I remember the first record he emailed me "to put my ear on" for feedback. He saw something in me that I didn't know existed. "Wow, you have a golden ear." I had no idea what he was talking about or what a golden ear was.?

I never realized these experiences were preparing me for my own journey as a small business owner in music.

I launched my first business, an artist management company, in 2016 with no formal business experience, and that marked the beginning of my entrepreneurial journey.

Thanks to his guidance and mentorship, my company, N'tha Mix, landed our first top 40 entry at Urban Radio.#35 not to bad right lol

FYI: The unknown is where knowledge and wisdom are born. The best learning happens when you are thrown into the mix and forced to adapt.?

Artist management was a no go, so I kept allowing the journey to show me other paths in this industry.

You know when people say the music business is a capital intensive business ? No lies there my early journey was rooted in the traditional way to break artist not records. It cost a lot of money to hire the players needed to really move the needle. The introduction of AI technology and other models has reduced the barrier to success, which means there's an opportunity to experiment with technologies to discover and forge our unique path to success as independent entities.

How building Myxxy for Creators lead me to starting the PIP newsletter packed with big breaks.

2019 I partnered with one of my close friends I'd met in college and we started her artist development journey (A Diamond in the rough fr fr). I knew she was next and when her time arrived we needed to be prepared. We've been locked in since.

FYI: Artist development is not a one-size-fits-all process; it's a unique path to becoming "the first you, not the next whoever." Development is the difference between finding (insert popular artist name)-type beats and being the popular artist-type beats other creators are looking to use. The name of the game is longevity. You can't skip this step when you're an icon in the making.

I've consulted with hundreds of independent music creators, aspiring music professionals & executives, and small businesses over the last few years. The problems they were facing we were too.

So I built Myxxy for Creators an internal productivity tool that searches the web using our unique algorithm to keep me up-to-date with the latest creative / small business grants (to win money ), open demo submissions (for exposure), emerging technologies (like symphonyOS), contest (Perform at SWSW), and more we could start submitting to when ready.

What 2022 looked like for us

?? We launched a closed Myxxy beta and100 users got to try the tool, and give feedback before offering it to the public.

?? We added over $3,000,000 in grant programs to our database we found using myxxy

?? We launched a a few new categories - music libraries accepting demos, podcast accepting music for their show, radio stations accepting demo submission and more

?? 12 users won grants to fund their projects they found using myxxy (more to come on their stories in 2023)

?? 20 users were accepted into major libraries

?? Lots of exposure opportunities secured as well
