Joanna Brough from Body Equip Physiotherapy, Paraburdoo

Johanna Brough from Body Equip Physiotherapy in Paraburdoo is focused on promoting health, safety and wellbeing within the community, consistently makes a positive difference to the lives of her clients and their families.

With more than 16 years’ experience and an enduring passion for her profession, Johanna has an innate desire to help her clients achieve their goals.

She provides a wide range of services for clients and the community, including women’s health, pre-employment fitness assessments, home visits for NDIS clients, rehabilitation sessions, strapping for sports teams, workshops, and oncology rehab.

She is known for going above and beyond for her clients, including supporting a paediatric patient with hip dysplasia by taking on a role liaising with specialists in Perth to order and fit the appropriate brace to remove the need for the child and their family to travel for treatment.

Johanna also promotes visiting services, encouraging locals to make the most of healthcare options available in the remote community.

Dr Alex Craig from Karratha Eyecare

Dr Alex Craig has a passion for optometry and a desire to make a difference in the Pilbara health community.

Opening his own practice, Karratha Eyecare in 2019, Alex has earned a reputation as a professional, supportive and kind optometrist.

Alex also delivers educational opportunities for optometry students on rural placement and delivers ophthalmology tutorial content for regional medical school students.

He also works directly with Lions Eye Institute Outback Vision, delivering Telehealth and optometry led intervention clinics in Karratha and Port Hedland hospitals, also providing ongoing care to Lions Eye Institute surgical patients.

Despite establishing a new business just prior to the pandemic, Alex has been able to grow his business providing services to local business, mining companies and schools throughout the Pilbara. This has also seen him provide additional employment for people in the region.

Alex is a well-respected member of this community, is a member of the Pilbara Health Professionals Network and sits as a director for Karratha Central Healthcare.

His passion is to improve the appropriateness of referral pathways, support multidisciplinary and collaborative approach to management while supporting fellow clinicians in the region.


Kelsie Docking and Jessie Jones from Pilbara Physiotherapy and Pilbara Occupational Therapy Karratha

Described as innovative and dedicated, Pilbara Therapy staff physiotherapist Jessie Jones and occupational therapist Kelsie Docking are making a true difference in the lives of their clients.

Their work has been described as life changing by clients, with the duo frequently going above and beyond to support clients in their respective fields of work.

One client who has benefited from the duo’s work is Luke, who has cerebral palsy and is wheelchair reliant.

With the ongoing therapy and support of Kelsie and Jessie, Luke has been able to fulfil his passion for martial arts by training with Jessie, a fellow martial arts enthusiast.

The pair have tailored Luke’s therapies to his needs assisting him to become stronger to meet his physical goals.

They have also helped Luke to attain his lifestyle goals, locating a fully accessible home for Luke, which has helped him to increase his independence.

Luke’s mum Julie believes finding such skilled and innovative therapists while living in a remote town is better than finding a pot of gold.
