2022 Technology Predictions

The Rise of The Market Entrepreneur

The renascent structures of global economies are undergoing a major upsurge in digital transformation, mostly attributed to a contactless paradigm because of the Covid pandemic. One could argue that digital transformation and its mechanisms had already become a more efficient form of conducting business as demonstrated by the rise of Amazon and Alibaba whose growth strategies were primarily that of transforming traditional industries into digital formats. ?

This unnatural surge in digital transformation has created some socio-economic disparities, as many experts would have contended that internet and digital proliferation was a necessary first step. The “Social Media Craze” is not abating, the value proposition is becoming more arduous; users are no longer content with flare and are seeking more meaningful plunders.

2022 has become a confluence point, after the rather chaotic and unpredictable years of Covid hysteria. How do we amalgamate these competing “Interests”, “Stakeholders”, “Actors” and “Value Propositions” to create sustainable, governable, and relevant market economies??

Therefore, the rise of the “Market Entrepreneur”, who can better help in predicting, stabilizing, developing, piloting, and operationalizing real-world market drifts.

Considering these precedents, here are seven (7) roughly articulated technology predictions that are expected to shape 2022:?

1.???Edge Zones (New Cloud): ?Blockchain technology has championed the concept of decentralization which is catching on as a major component of Web 3.0 and Industry 4.0; as it is almost impossible for global technology structures to be centralized if to proliferate. In addition, 5G, SASE and IoT will require more compact and proximate integrations. The Edge Zones will provide more localization, prioritization, and functionality for services; service, product and utility companies using zones can provide enhanced digitalized services and develop branded zones.

2.???2023 Global Tax Impact: Most experts expect tax agreement will further contribute to the expected rise in M&A and R&D activity. Although intended to combat the movement profits to low tax jurisdictions, it is equally seen as foundation for full internet and digital taxation. It is bound to increase the tax burden for investments globally, influencing investment decisions which may impede global expansions. This may pose problems for digital and internet proliferation, slowing down the pace for developing countries. Any stalling of cross-border investment in technology will be detrimental to an unfluctuating global recovery.

3.???Cyber “Mutual Deterrence” is Dead: The “Policy of Mutual Deterrence” for Cyberattacks has been broken, how it plays out is only matter of time.?My prediction is that the security landscape is about to change, as attack vectors and preconceptions are constantly shifting; the playing field is leveling out and nation-state actors no longer hold the advantage in 2022. There is much talk about “Cybersecurity Mesh”, however some consolidation or “Cybersecurity White-boxing” is needed to eliminate overarching silos insecurity issues and major solution integration vulnerabilities. For example, most organizations may have over 30 cybersecurity products for an in-depth security architecture, nonetheless use only 15% of the features in each product, which is largely inefficient, insecure, and costly. With consolidation or White-Boxing, they can incorporate only what is needed from each vendor or product to greater efficiently while complying to every aspect of interoperability; this is a major strategy shift needed in the industry.

4.???Nomadic Workforce: The nomadic workforce, remote workforce and digital nomads are here for the long-term, it is an increasingly popular benefit and work-life style. The increasing espousal of artificial intelligence, automation and cloud workspace platforms have drastically changed the workforce dynamics, and there are no reversals in sight, these have become permanent strategies. 2022 will reshape “the of future of work” as employers seek to redefine the “Social Contract” and reconcile what comprises “An Empowered Worker” in the post Covid era.

5.???Metaverse: Web 4.0, AI, Industry 4.0 and Crypto: Most define the Metaverse as a fully realized digital world with existential ecosystems and socio-economies. It goes far beyond the current market definitions of a gaming world ecosystem. Many see it as a convergence of Web 3.0, AI, digital twin, Industry 4.0 and Crypto under a new virtual digital world. Essentially the new social media virtual socio-economic world, an alternate universe. No one is sure the eventual metamorphosis, nonetheless billions of dollars are being investing in gaming worlds that will be a precursor to this new alternate world.?Metaverse may be the future of online activity, and 2022 is the defining moment on what is realistic, as demand for value positioned online experiences will not taper. ????

6.???From Modernization to Full Transformation: This is a major technology shift for 2022, modernization can only go so far, there are limits to which old business models can no longer be modernization and requiring transformation. Generally, when one speaks about modernization, it is about upgrading infrastructures. In the new digital world, the only paradigm is that of “transformation”, with completely new business models. Infrastructure upgrades do not suffice, as business models that support them have been rendered obsolete. 2022 is a year of reckoning, entities still engaged in modernization will see diminishing returns on investments.??

7.???Quantum Breakthrough: Since when Albert Einstein talked of traveling on a ray of light, many scientists have been obsessed about building light circuitry with photon emitter. The challenge was how to control or manage their behavior in a consistent and predictable manner. Recently researchers built a photonic chip for isolating light which is key to miniaturizing quantum devices but the ability to control electromagnetic interference is still elusive for stability of devices. However imminent electromagnetic wave and material breakthroughs may change everything in 2022.?
