2022 Recap - Entrepreneur Version

2022 Recap - Entrepreneur Version

As I write this, I can’t believe it is the end of 2022 already.

?As I sit on my PC working from Riyadh, I’m reflecting on the last year, trying to take in all that happened and every challenge and triumph. But here are some of my key milestones in 2022:

?In 2022, I:

QUIT: I exited the corporate life; in retrospect this was one of the scariest decisions I’ve taken. I recall the first day after being “jobless” and the fear that creeped into me, wondering if I’d ruined my career or damaged my financial stability. Eight months later this is proving to be one of my best decisions yet.

BUILT: I remember the very first moment, I opened my PC and started drafting ideas, concepts and setting up meetings and discussions to launch Noor Coaching. While extremely exciting it was also a very daunting task – there were so many things I did not know or understand. Many questions and collaborations later, we’ve built a foundation, grew the team, and continue to build every day.

Lightened Up: I’m not sure if all start-up founders eventually feel that way, but after crossing the phase of “overwhelm”, you lighten up. Small mistakes are not deal breakers anymore and you cut yourself some slack most of the days. ?

Connected: this by far is one of the most rewarding aspects of 2022, I connected with a lot more people, established new alliances some of which developed into business partnerships. All of which I’m so grateful for. ?

Messed up: I mean you can expect that I did, right? A new company, staff members, funding, growth, clients, and work all from scratch. I had my share of mess ups for sure – but how I “expect, accept and work through” my mess-ups are what I’m now proud of.

?Finally, and most importantly,

I served: I believe I have done, with all my heart, in any and every platform I could access or was given.

?Here are key takeaways I’ve learnt in 2022, hope they serve you in anyway:

  • You’ll never feel 100% ready, there will always be “something” that needs work – start anyway.
  • Don’t be afraid to “ask” – many times a simple question can reveal SO much learning
  • If you’re feeling like there is no progress, think again, you’re one decision away from changing the entire dynamic.
  • Be kind to yourself and trust it. It would be amazing to have the world cheer you on, but really if you truly have your own back, you’re good to go.
  • I know this one might not be applicable to everyone but follow impact not money – the money follows, but it’s far more rewarding.
  • Finally, you’ll mess up, you’ll make mistakes, you’ll fall. But get back up, always get back up.

?I intend to take the last week off in its entirety, to completely disconnect and refresh, a luxury that I couldn’t afford since I launched Noor Coaching.

?Thank you for being part of my journey, for supporting, guiding, and cheering me on. I’m grateful for you. Next time I’ll speak to you will be into 2023 – so from me to you Linkedin fam, happy new year !

Sending you love and light

Noor
