2022 Literary Activities

2022 Literary Activities

2022 was a year of changes and upheavals, both personal and political. It was a year when I moved to Edmonton as University of Alberta’s Writer-in-Residence in September. September was also the month when Iranian nationwide uprising started against the Islamic Republic.

In terms of publications, I had 15 new poems, one new poetry translation, three essays, and four interviews. I also had 5 reprints of my previously published poetry and translations. Composer Pouya Hamidi released new compositions based on three poems of mine.?There was a new review of my poetry collection, Letters to My Father. For more details, please see the following list. Where the publications are online, links have been provided.

This year, like previous years, I was the curator of the poetry component of HAPPENING Multicultural Festival in May. There were four online events, each with three poets and an interview. I also concluded my work as an anthology editor of Poetry in Voice. My selection was poetry translations from the Middle East.

Here in Edmonton, I continue hosting Shab-e She’r (Poetry Night) in Student Lounge, Old Arts/Convocation Hall, University of Alberta campus. I also host weekly Writing Circles on Tuesdays, 1-3 PM, at Humanities Centre, room 4-59. Both are open to U of A, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, AND international community. To know about the events I participate in or organize, follow me on social media (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) or check the Writer-in-Residence web page here: https://www.ualberta.ca/english-film-studies/programs/writer-in-residence-program/current-writer-in-residence.html
