2022 Latam crash tests results led by German, Japanese automakers

Automakers from Germany and Japan led with the most 5-star rating crash test results in Latin America in 2022, according to Latin NCAP, the Latin America and Caribbean regional car safety assessment program.
Among the 2022 models receiving a top-rating of five stars during the latest crash tests in December were those from Volkswagen, Mitsubishi, and Toyota.
Volkswagen Virtus (36.9 points)
Manufactured in India, the 4-door sedan received an 83% score for adult occupant protection, 92% for child occupant protection, 60% for the protection of pedestrians and vulnerable road users, and 82% for safety assist systems. It has six?airbags.
Mitsubishi Outlander (36.2 points)
Manufactured in Japan, the 5-door SUV received a 90% score for adult occupant protection, 91% for child occupant protection, 55% for the protection of pedestrians and vulnerable road users, and 84% for safety assist systems. It has seven?airbags.
Toyota Corolla (33.3 points)
Manufactured in Brazil, Japan, Thailand, and the United States, the 4-door sedan received an 83% score for adult occupant protection, 92% for child occupant protection, 60% for the protection of pedestrians and vulnerable road users, and 82% for safety assist systems.
