2022 Insights That Have Made Me a Better Person

2022 Insights That Have Made Me a Better Person

The reality that 2022 is wrapping up has finally hit me - until this moment I’ve been so much in the year still happening!?Alas, embracing the present. Amen to that.

This year has personally been highly transformational. I’ve asked myself countless times this year: what the heck am I ACTUALLY doing?! Psssst: can you relate? Then I take a look around, and everything seems to smile back at me. But the world around me wasn’t always so friendly.

Despite the manifesting gone mainstream, you can’t always expect what you want to just come to you. The bat signal needs flaring, the seeds need to be planted AND gardened, time and time again. Maybe it's the newly certified meditation teacher talking here, but...that's the truth.

When I ask myself questions I don’t always have the answers to, rather worry I now realize that I’d rather not have an answer than be left wondering: what if??

Here are my a-ha whisperings from the gods that surfaced for me reflecting on this year ??

Risk and reward looks different for everybody. Your success doesn't have to be dramatic - in a content-driven world where sexy headlines own attention and are applauded, I invite you to celebrate your meaningful moments in the mundane.

Work to turn the tears you shed from tears of sorrow to tears of joy and gratitude.?

Dedicate time to your curiosities. One of my tiny regrets is putting a halt to what I love to pursue someone else’s dream … needless to say that did not work out in my favor. I’ve learned a great deal pursuing and building outside my 9-5. These skills have enriched my confidence, and added value to collective projects and pursuits. Don’t deny yourself the ability to learn something new just because it’s not within the scope of your day job. Spoiler: diverse skills and hobbies make you WAY more interesting (and hirable)!?

Looking inward is the key to sustainable progress.

You can only do so much in a day. Prioritize ALL the things you want to do in a day - not just the work stuff. Take your kid to the game? Practice yoga? You bet - those are 100% daily priorities. Include them in your to do list and time block the sH*t out of your calendar to get it done. Reframe “priorities, because bypassing the pleasantries of life robs you from life itself.?

Support and root for everyone. “Competition” is overrated and it stresses fear over love, and is detrimental to the joy of why you do what you do everyday. Embrace insights to expand where you need to, but don’t be a copy-cat, because you’ll lose your unique essence in the rush to be.?

Turn to or foster community for what calls you or where you seek fulfillment. The power of your people in numbers is astonishing when you share aligned values and goals, with the capability to generate so much love, support, and growth for what you need.?

Listen to your heart and don’t ask questions.?

Be mindful of your energy - who you spend it with, what you spend it on, and why.

Allow yourself to indulge in living when you have the space allowing for relaxation. The treadmill you’re on will break eventually if it’s not card for.?

“Bad things” that happen aren’t bad at all. Everything is empty by nature - how we perceive and harness energies around a particular event is everything - it will make or break you. Don’t let “bad things” break you.?

Contribute your talents and serve as much as you can when able - it’s not a waste of time just because you aren’t turning a profit immediately - it’s conscious leadership.?

Bettering yourself is the most SELFLESS thing you can actually do. Investing in yourself optimizes your full being and adds value to everyone in your orbit.

What I realized most in writing this list is how freaking essential the act of reflection is - not in only how cathartic it can be but the truths that come up for you. Reflection IS work. In a good way.

But who am I to preach ... what has 2022 taught you?
