OFAC Publishes FAQs on Tornado Cash, Designates Iranian Nationals For Their Role in Cyber Attacks, and Task Force Rusich, a Russian paramilitary organization operating in Ukraine

Following OFAC’s designation of Tornado Cash last month, OFAC published FAQs related to their designation of the Ethereum mixer Tornado Cash that answer some of the industry’s questions.?

This week OFAC also announced two separate designations involving crypto. The first involved ten individuals and two entities affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) for their roles in conducting malicious cyber acts, including ransomware activity. Our blog explores some of the ransomware activity associated with the entities designated. The second involves Task Force Rusich, a Russian paramilitary organization affiliated with Wagner Group, operating in Ukraine. We previously analyzed the solicitation of cryptocurrency donations by Rusich and other pro-Russia groups on our blog.?
