2022 Executive of The Year

When I cast my mind back to The CEO Magazine’s Executive of The Year Awards, I am thinking about one of the Award's entertainers, James Castrission, who faced 11300 km span of frozen continent on his journey from the edge of Antarctica to the South Pole and back.

Leading a business can at times, be more adventurous than heading up a race to the pole. There is no one to tell you how to get to where you are going.

For me, the adventure has always been about creating a new path by deciding where to invest our resources and time and with whom. The results were creatively executed ALPHA, where the world's best athletes and RaceEdge come together for a novel ideas such as F1 FORCE, and the new VSTR.

When RaceEdge, Inc. made a decision to bring VSTR to Formula 1, some stakeholders saw it as a very good model for what the sport needs right now to win in the quality and seductiveness of entertainment choices.

Formula 1 is solidifying its position as a global sport, with ever increasing attendance at races — the United States GP saw a record 440,00 fans coming through the gates at Circuit of the Americas this year.

A great achievement undoubtedly, but 440,000 attendees is quite a way from the all-time record for a Grand Prix weekend.

Our culture is based on the one, where achieving something remarkable demands that we look past the way everyone else is taking and embrace the darkness of the unknown. For James it meant ski both ways without kites, snowmobiles, and food supplies, when others would ski to the Pole with a full pack and then kite back.

It was James' decision to do something that had been deemed impossible to make after many had tried and failed that earned him the first polar victory and got him world record for the first unassisted expedition of its kind.

VSTR offers everything that people love about setting a world records, plus a whole new competition between F1 drivers, battling one another using only strategies of their own design.

Even in a prevalent computer-regulated sport, the key ingredient in a world-record performance — the type of unfathomable performance people watch the sport for — is an unfathomably good driver.

If you know, you worth the opportunity to weave that kind of magic, and not just once; it is time to give yourself VSTR.
