The 2022 Christmas Tree

A tree shaped with sentiment and 24,000 stones

This year's Jaya House tree is an ethereal art piece dedicated to the tenacity, patience, and resilience of the human spirit.?

Twenty-four thousand matt-black stones, delicately suspended by a waterfall of recycled fishing twine, envelop the auspicious cannonball tree featured in the room. The translucent stepped structure draws upwards through a double-height skylight, symbolizing the dissipating darkness of unprecedented times.

Gravel-sized road base - individually hand-painted and hung – was chosen to represent the solid foundations of a road to recovery. And pays homage to the strength and tolerance of our Siem Reap community as they endured a chaotic transformation of infrastructure within a city already battered by travel bans.

If we look closely, we will find a single red crystal glimmering among the thousands of darkened stones. Emblematic of the beating heart of a universal community united, a tribute to those we have lost, and gratitude for those who saved others. A ruby-red reminder of the life force that surges within us.

Ours is a tree of peace, hope and remembrance. Reminding us that no matter how ambitious the goal, when we work together… beauty is within our reach.?

On behalf of the Jaya House Hotels team, it is an honour and a privilege to be sharing Cambodia’s beauty with you once more.??
