In the past few years of digital marketing, branding has become more significant and has no longer been a visual element per se. Branding became an avenue for businesses to showcase their message and attract people, not just because of its physical attributes, but for its emotional impact and symbolism to consumers.?
If you are one of those business owners who are aiming to reinvigorate their branding, keeping a tab on the latest trends and updates of the digital realm is a must, and of course, redesigning and reconceptualizing your branding according to these trends would be your strategy to win the hearts of your target market.
With this in mind, we have gathered the branding trends in 2022 to help you respond to the changes taking place in the virtual world.
If 2021 was all about modern and new contemporary trends, 2022 is about bringing back memories and making people feel something extraordinary. People love to reminisce and take comfort from familiarity, making a nostalgic feeling so seductive, and it’s even a dominant force in marketing as well as branding.?
Just take a look at Burger King’s rebrand, which happens to resemble their logo from the 1990s.
Coincidence? We think not. This brand just screams attractiveness, minimalism, vintage style, and guess what? Familiarity, especially to 90’s kids or generations. According to Jones Knowles Ritchie, the agency responsible for the rebrand, "With a refined style that is confident, simple, and playful, the new logo pays homage to the brand's legacy. We were inspired by the company's initial emblem and how it has evolved into a cultural symbol."
This not only speaks familiarity, but also relevance and connection to people, and that’s a great branding strategy to incorporate.??
2. Minimalism
Minimalist designs tend to justify the “less is more” approach. This takes on simplicity rather than grandeur and fancy embellishments on design, to make it more attractive. Minimalism is also attached to clean aesthetics, which is also characterized by being bold, having one to two color choices.?
Logo designs usually were complex-looking, but with the new branding trends, brands and businesses are adopting minimal styles while still including a hidden meaning in the formula.?
One of the leading minimalistic brands is the Apple logo, Designed by Rob Janoff. It is characterized by a bold and flat design, with the brand’s ultimate minimal style. Another one is Nike, or the “swoosh”, this iconic logo is somehow similar to Apple’s characteristics, with a simple icon, it communicates a lot and has a story behind it. Other minimalist brands are Louis Vuitton and Audi, which are popular as well up until now.?
These may merely be brand logos, but their branding revolves around minimalism. These logos all have similar attributes: simplicity, lessened distractions, and flat designs, which as we can all say, are effective.
3. Eco Look

Climate change and extinction are just two of the many environmental and worldwide issues we’re facing, and we’re nowhere near surpassing these. With this, eco-friendly messages and designs from brands are joining the trend, and many people are taking part in this mainstream.
Our Kind [Studio], from the United Kingdom, utilizes this green design for their brand and campaigns which poses a distinctive and refreshing style. Not only are branding styles incorporated, but materials used for brands are also eco-friendly.
4. Immersive Brand?
In the digital world, connecting people is not just the centerpiece of experience anymore. Interactions pave the way for better experiences, combining physical and digital touches to designs of brands.?
This blending of experiences makes bigger differences and influences brands, which gives better opportunities for brands to integrate the two realms and make an innovative trend. When screens cave in users with their limits, these new designs evolve into static experiences that are interesting, entertaining, and immersive to users.?
One example of this Immersive Experience is this Stranger Things’ which brings the viewers into the world of the story and solidifies the user’s connection towards the series.?
5. Inclusivity?
The biggest mistake for a brand is probably not being inclusive. Inclusivity of color, religion, race, sexuality, or gender, and others is extremely important for people to admire brands and reform themselves as a brand that cares about people and are open to diversity and inclusivity.
Takeaway
Branding Trends keep on changing, and there’s no stopping that. But the takeaway for brand designers, marketers, or business owners is to keep their branding simple, authentic, and engaging.?
The brand is a vital and crucial aspect of business and it’s not just a visual representation, but the identity of the business as well.?
