2022: Another Year of Impact

Today marks the 6th year anniversary of my dad’s passing and the best way to honor his memory is by continuing the philanthropic work he started 30 years ago with our family foundation.

This year alone, we? funded over one million dollars to support multiple initiatives and events tied to our mission of elevating the next generation of Latino leaders. Our work provides access to equity and opportunity for those who need it and deserve it the most. We know talent is distributed equally, but opportunity is not, and our goal is to change that.

2022 Event Highlights:?

The foundation was present at over a dozen events this year, with one of my favorites being the Aspen Ideas Festival by the Aspen Institute . I had the opportunity to participate in a conversation there around why investing in women will help rebuild the economy. See the full panel here .?

Community Building LTX Connect and Amazon Studios ?

A notable highlight from this year was Amazon Studios celebration of Latino Heritage and Culture, where they announced their continued support of LA Collab and LTX Match : A smart talent-tech platform that will match Latino talent with opportunities in tech, entertainment and advocacy. With this platform, LA Collab and LTX Connect are bridging the gap between Latino talent and Hollywood. We are proud to be the fiscal sponsor of LA Collab and grateful to Amazon Studios for doubling down on their commitment to LA Collab’s mission to advance the careers of #MoreLatinosInHollywood .

Upon completion, participants receive an Arizona State University certificate and a SUMA proof-of-learning non-transferable token in the blockchain.

A new program we have started supporting is the Acceptance Academy , led by top college counselor, Danny Ruderman, a proven program that helps 9th-12th grade students discover and get accepted into high-ranking colleges and universities.

Through live online workshops, application bootcamp and 1-1 coaching, students learn how to succeed in high school, develop passions, and get accepted into top colleges by learning how to become and present the best version of themselves.

We’ve all heard the phrase: You can not be what you can’t see. We are honored to support Luz Media to challenge false and inaccurate media narratives through high-quality digital content, and community building through tangible IRL and digital experiences and opportunities. Luz, led by founder and CEO Lucy Flores, redefines and reclaims what it means to be a U.S. Latina.?

And last but not least, we continue to partner with the PledgeLA Founders Fund , as we have for the past two years, which was created to directly address the systemic barriers that Black and Latino entrepreneurs face when seeking capital for their companies. Aside from the non-dilutive capital we grant founders, we also connect them with industry mentors to help them grow faster, increase recurring revenue, find follow-on capital, and build community with their peers.Thank you Annenberg Foundation for leading this important initiative in our city and trusting us as partners.
