Iowa State University hosted the 2022 Cyclone Classic for A Division Meat Judging Teams on August 28, 2022.?The contest was an educational and competitive opportunity for students to begin preparing for the fall season.?The contest consisted of beef, pork, lamb carcasses, wholesale/retail cuts, and processed meat classes.?
The first annual?Cyclone Classic Champion Team?was the University of Georgia, coached by Anna Scott.?The University of Georgia Team members consists of Levi Martin, Clint Lee, Preston Nave, Anna Unger, and Cason Galloway.?
The?Reserve Champion Team?was Fort Scott Community College, coached by Sara Sutton.?Fort Scott Community College team members include Hannah Van Cleave, Cameron Parrish, Cheyenne Higbie, and Braden Griffiths.?
The?high individual?of the first annual Cyclone Classic was Hannah Van Cleave with Fort Scott Community College.?Congratulations to all of the competitors for an excellent way to begin the fall competitive season.
The contest would not have been possible without the help of the 2022 Iowa State University Meat Judging Team coached by Caroline Downey and Iowa State University Faculty Drs. Sherry Olsen, Terry Houser, and Amy Powell, as well as guidance and help from Jodie Pitcock- Livestock and Poultry Programs, USDA Agricultural Marketing Service.?AMSA is grateful for Iowa State University’s willingness to host a competitive event for the 2022 A-Division competitors.??
