2021 ZAMBIA RUGBY SEASON IS A GO!!!
The 2021 Zambia Rugby league is scheduled to start in the last week of March all things being equal vis a vis the Covid-19 pandemic. There seems to be a notable global decline in the number of Covid cases owing mainly to the vaccine roll out in most countries and if this downward trend continues and the country initiates its own vaccine rollout, it is safe to say that the Zambia Rugby Union are not being ambitious at all.
Late last year 2010,we were entertained with action when rugby returned and witnessed some very exciting games and an insight on what the 2021 leagues had in store for us. The fans went wild as some unexpected results were recorded with the notables being Arrows loss to Buffaloes in a friendly and Roan emerging winners of a Copperbelt mini tournament beating Mufulira and Diggers.

The league format will be a Two tier format as follows:

2. Buffaloes
3. Diggers
4. Eagles
5. KPF
6. Lusaka
7. Mufulira Leopards
8. Nkawzi
TIER 2
1. Chibuluma
2. Kansanshi
3. Konkola
4. Mufulira Hunters
5. Nchanga
6. Ndola
7. Roan
ELECTION OF 2021 ZAMBIA RUGBY CLUB EXECUTIVES
Most of the clubs have indicated that they will soon be holding their Annual General Meetings before the new season begins and we will be making a follow up to inform you on who the various Club executives are and confirmations of their technical Team.
Red Arrows, the defending League champions are already a step ahead as they already have in place a complete team of Club Executives and Technical Bench already in place appointed by the sponsors the Zambia Air Force and are a ready for action with a newly refurbished club house and improved infrastructure which is still being improved. Similarly their neighbours Lusaka Power house have also unveiled their new Technical Team with elections for positions for the Club Executive expected very soon.
The earlier the Club executive teams are put in place the better for all the clubs as it is from this group of people that Zambia Rugby Union will draw its councilors from in the scheduled Zambia Rugby Union Annual General Meeting next month and it is this group of people who will set the tone of rugby in the country this year.
ZAMBIA RUGBY UNION ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The ZRU will have a virtual meeting for the EXCO this Saturday 20 February 2021 and it is from this meeting that we will be able to get more information on the set date for the Annual General Meeting scheduled for March 2021 and the confirmation of the fixture for the year 2021.
