2021 RECAP!

2021 RECAP!

WOW we are coming up to the end of 2021, what a year!

Today I find myself reviewing how 2021 played out. I do my best to write a daily journal at the start and end of each day. Going back through it I have realize what a emotional year this has been. As we have all experienced the pandemic continues, family and friends have been affected either directly by contracting COVID or by the on-going debate around the Pandemic. Either way it all has affecting our lives.

Next is how my career has evolved this past year. Going from working in Cyber Security sales to the last 6 months of this year working at Arete Incident Response as a Incident Response Lead. I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Arete and the team. Working at Arete I have been able to apply a lot of my expertise and experience, as well as learn from the best in the Cyber Security industry. I have also been able to help organizations that are going through one of the worst incident that any company would have to go through. I am so grateful that I am able to be there for them when they need support. Also the team I am working with have been extremely supportive in all aspects; technically, procedurally and emotionally. Arete might not know this, they have completely changed my life, my career in Cyber Security and how it has helped my family. Thank you Arete!

Other recaps:

  1. Learned a lot about Incident Response
  2. Jim Kwik Thinking/Recall/Speed Reading program
  3. Made new friends and others have moved on, they are healthy, just no longer in my life.
  4. Learned to take on personal hobbies and not be so consumed with work
  5. Learned I need to take better care of my health
  6. Stopped streaming because of work and looking forward to start streaming in 2022
  7. Kept improving my negotiation skills
  8. Thank you to all my mentors who have helped me this year. Neal Bridges, Joel Bork, Alex Ryan, Susan Carter, Paul Caron, Kirk Harrison, Shannon Brazil, Sean Dillane, Vivek Varadarajan, Frederick Kautz, Dan Stratton and anyone else I might I have missed.

Then there is you, supporting me through 2021 and providing your guidance, insight, as well as recommendations. It has meant a lot to me and I have met so many great people who have been amazing, thank you!

What is next for 2022?

This I think is the ultimate questions for this coming year. What do I want to accomplish for my career, hobbies and my own personal growth. Finally achieve the C.I.S.S.P., work towards Management/Senior level position in Cyber Security maybe even Director…Personally I finally am taking the leap to finally learn how to play the guitar and give myself the entire year to learn. These are just a few things I am thinking about.

What are your goals for 2022?

Thank you so much for being part of my life and supporting me every step of the way. I hope you and your family have a amazing New Years Eve. Also, I can’t wait to see how your 2022 progresses.
