2021: Quit Your Damn Job

2020 was awesome. I say that with all sincerity. Yes, I do feel for the people that were sick or for those who lost family members during the pandemic, but our country needed this forced "shift." Many people lost their jobs, and thankfully so. It showed them that living paycheck-to-paycheck and living outside their means with no safety net or no retirement planning is painful. For a lot of people, 2020 was the year that they said a permanent good-bye to the office and instead started working in their pajamas from home while on Zoom calls desperately trying to sound professional while the dog was barking and kids were jumping around in the background trying to get attention - all the while the other "professional" on the other line was dealing with the same thing. Kids were out of school, thank goodness because this showed that our outdated 20th-century education system is failing us. We are no longer an assembly-line country that needs assembly line employees. We are a service-based country, that can work remotely, and our kids need to start being educated that way. Even better, our kids need to be educated that they need to QUIT THEIR DAMN JOBS as soon as they can!

2021 is the year to QUIT YOUR DAMN JOB! Or at least begin the process to do so. This process is significantly easier than most people think. In my last article, "Three Types of Income, Which One is Best," I wrote about how to simply MOVE your money from one pot to the other to avoid tax burdens. This mentality shift is the first thing you need to understand to quit your job and become financially free (aka rich).

Steps to quit your job:

  1. Start working remotely: Most of us have done this. During your remote time work as efficiently as possible and prove to your boss that you can get more done in less time. Have a metric of statistics that you keep on file to show your manager this point with numbers and proven statistics.
  2. Live as minimally as possible. Since you are now working from home more you are spending less on gas for your commute, you are cooking from home and not going out, you are saving on clothing and dry-cleaning, you are hopefully making your own coffee and not increasing the stock-holdings of Starbucks at $7 a pop for a mocha, and you are not dropping $20 a ticket on movie theaters. Budget and SAVE this extra money.
  3. In your increased free time from working from home, and your increased savings, start moving your money to passive income generators like Growth VUE Properties Single Asset Fund.
