2021 Podcast Picks

I post my annual podcast picks on Linkedin rather than Facebook because I think it's such an important habit for professionals. If you have downtime in airports or rush hour [eh.... or sitting on your Covid-19 couch in a bathrobe], there's no better use of your time than this free, rolling university.

If you are new to podcasting, you'll need a podcast player. I still recommend Pocket Casts. It offers apps for Android/iOS and a web player that syncs with the apps. It also offers a powerful search tool covering a deeper catalog than most other apps. Finally, it features a great variable speed option-- allowing you to power through episodes without listening to the chipmunks.

On the other hand, a new recommendation this year: Maybe take a look at Spotify's podcast section if you already use Spotify heavily for music. They are growing and improving... and, I predict will soon become a dominant player in the podcasting landscape.

Click here for my 202020192018, and 2017 picks. Most of those are still in my playlist.

If I had to recommend only 3 podcasts:

  • Joe Rogan - deep, long-form interviews from the Bro Oprah
  • Making Sense by Sam Harris - the only podcast I've ever paid for
  • Jordan Harbinger - fantastic interviewer with a focus on making you better

Compelling new additions for 2021:

  • Faceblind - technically started in 2019, but it's MY podcast
  • Brain in a Vat - philosophy for laymen... brilliantly executed
  • Bunga Bunga - Whitney Cummings details the rise and fall of Silvio Berlusconi
  • Lex Fridman - Deep interviews from a Spock who wants to be a Kirk

The uncountable list of CAE related podcasts:

As usual, please comment with your favorite podcasts from any genre. Always on the lookout for quality!
