This is late in the year to be creating this list but through 2020 and most of 2021 I was focused on Technical learning so I just got back to reading non-technical books. I will list them and a brief review for each below. This is also help me be accountable to read more.
I ordered this book on pre-order and when it arrived September 14, 2021, I quickly devoured it. Although there weas some info on SNC, the majority of the book provided background on the life of this amazing person. Her dad and grandmother were great people with a strong legacy in politics but also strong ethics. One thing I learned came from a quote from her father:
"There is no merit in focusing on obstacles. If one knows the change is needed then the mission is to relentlessly pursue the change in a principal and coherent manner and to look for allies."
Jody made huge strides for improvement while in office. I am looking forward to all the changes she will be facilitating on her next journey.
I started reading this book before the Indian In The Cabinet arrived but switched over to reading that one. I have now finished this book at even though fiction, provided a lot of insight into how damaging residential schools are especially when they are thrown out on the street at 18. I highly recommend reading this book especially if you liked Handmaid's Tale. Margaret Atwood even compared the two.
Currently Reading: Apples Never Fall By Liane Moriarty
