2021 Land Rover Discovery updated with new engines and tech

Jaguar updated their XF sedan and E-Pace Crossover recently with a slight facelift and it is customary for their sister company Land Rover to follow suit. As a result, the 2021 Land Rover Discovery arrives with a small facelift, new engines and an updated infotainment system.
The 2021 Land Rover Discovery does not bring anything drastic in terms of design changes. The three-row SUV gets an updated grill design borrowed from the smaller Discovery Sport. The LED headlights are also new, with an updated DRL pattern. The LED taillights get reworked and are also connected with a full-width dark panel for an impression of a wider car.
Minor changes like a redesigned second-row seat, new steering wheel, relocated HVAC outlets and additional charging ports are part of the update. Just like the new XF, the 2021 Discovery switches the rotary gear shift dial for a conventional gear selector. But the biggest change must be the 11.4-inch touchscreen running the brand’s latest Pivi Pro infotainment system. Another display, larger at 12.3 inches, acts as the digital instrument panel.
But the crux of the 2021 Discovery’s facelift lies under the bonnet. There is a new base 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that is good for 296 hp of power and 400 Nm of torque. The other engine is borrowed from the Range Rover Sport, a 3.0-litre inline-six petrol hooked up to a mild-hybrid system. This mill produces 355 hp along with 495 Nm of torque. Both the engines belong to Jaguar-Land Rover’s Ingenium engine family.
The facelift does not address the key design issues with the Discovery’s exterior at all, but for family types who did not care about looks anyway, the big SUV remains a strong modern contender.
