2021 Interior Design Trends

If you know the difference between “Rustic Vogue” and “Cottagecore” and if you can tell the difference between “Japandi” and “Scandi”, then the chances are you’ve spent quite some time in lockdown flicking through interior design magazines or watching design programmes on the telly.
Here at Living in Style Gallery we confess to doing the same, and have noticed a number of recurring themes in the media. But, the one that (sometimes literally) pops up everywhere is:
- “Top 10 Interior Design Trends List 2021”
Nothing quite explains why top 10 trends lists are so popular, but they do seem to be a bit of a national obsession.
It could be human nature. It could be purely practical – (I mean, who doesn’t want to know the pantone number of this year’s “in” shade of taupe before everyone else?) Most likely it’s the prospect of a triumphant “I Told you so!” at the dinner table next Christmas. Here are some of the trends and summaries we quite like:

Trend lists may in some way fulfil our need for a clairvoyant “sneaky-peaky” into the near future (perhaps why there are so many of them), but ultimately interior design is all about personal taste, and trends are continually by defintion changeable, which is why we think it’s good to be aware of the latest trends, but we don’t think it really matters whether you think of yourself as “trend-setter” or a “dedicated follower of fashion.”
Our advice at Living in Style Gallery we would always buy what you find most pleasing – and hopefully we can help.
With that in mind we are linking you to some of the trends round ups we have found, - a “Living in Style Gallery list of lists” “2021 on trend items” but remember, we and our European partners have a collection of more than 1500 pieces mid-century, modern and art deco and designer pieces to suit all tastes.
