On to 2021

Thank you for the reception to my reflections on 2020. What a year. Now on to 2021! This is going to be an ambitious year for our department and McDonald’s, and I’m excited about the work our teams have already started. Here are three things I am looking forward to in 2021:

1. Cementing our engineering transformation around digital and restaurant tech that will enable us to deliver more improvements to customer and crew experience than ever before and deliver big on our Digital Ambition
2. Strengthening our position as a destination for top tech talent. We have several open roles, where you’d find yourself working with extremely bright colleagues from around the globe. Our teams work on industrial scale products and platforms using the latest innovations in AI, IOT, robotics, ML image/voice recognition and edge computing… and our tech shows up at a McDonald’s down the street
3. Thriving in a post-COVID world, by using last year as a foundation to drive a new way of working, acting like a start-up at scale. We responded to Covid-19 with more capabilities, greater efficiencies, and the flexibility to re-prioritize

I’m confident that we will be able to deliver a portfolio that will drive growth for McDonald’s. We’re heading into the year with good momentum, and we’ll continue to modernize our platforms and ways of working. Here we go…
