2021 Community Grants Programme

2021 Community Grants Programme

Putting patients and their communities at the heart of what we do is one of the many reasons why I’m proud to work at MSD.

Our community grants programme is one of the ways that we do that, funding much needed projects which are led by the organisations that are closest to, and truly understand, the issues facing the public and patients. Our 2020 UK Grants Programme saw MSD fund 35 projects totaling over £400,000 in a time of extraordinary need following the onset of the pandemic.

Building on this success, we’ve launched our 2021 community grants programme that covers six major areas of need – cancer, HPV, HIV, routine immunisations, pulmonary hypertension and anti-infectives.

We’ve chosen these therapy areas and shaped the scope of each grant programme based on discussions with patient communities to ensure that we’re focusing on areas where our grants programme can have the greatest impact.

Funding will be available for projects that meet a range of needs across these six areas, but typically they look to inform and empower patients, address health inequalities, or deliver improvements in outcomes and experience.

The past year has sadly brought many inequalities to the fore, which is why tackling health inequalities is a critical theme of our 2021 grants programme. We’ll be assessing grant applications with a view to supporting those projects that prioritise reaching communities who are disproportionately affected and may not otherwise have the support that they need.

Our community grants programme is open for applications until 5pm Wednesday 30th June. For further information on eligibility and the application process, please find more information here.
