2021 ASCE Bridge Photo Contest

Last year, one of my Bay Bridge photos made it as one of the 12 finalists for 2020 Viewer's Choice Award. I received nearly 1.7K votes, but unfortunately I didn't win the 1st place. Since then, I took over a thousand more photos of this bridge, determined that I want to do better this year and hopefully one of the photos found favor in the eyes of the panelists. I must say that the year 2021 has been pretty amazing. I've seen a lot of fog and dramatic sunsets.

When the time came to submit photos for the 2021 ASCE Bridge photo contest, I had plenty of photos to choose from, but I like this headline photo in particular. I remember that beautiful evening on January 8, 2021 and the sunset was beautiful. A few days earlier, the bridge was covered with fog and it was also one of my 'bucket list' to photograph this bridge in the fog. I didn't realize that the fog was also rolling in again this evening until I took the picture.

To cut the story short, the ASCE Bridge Photo committee selected this photo as First Place on the high density range (HDR) category, and as a big bonus, it will be featured in the 2022 ASCE Bridge Calendar!! I am very grateful and honored. This is like a dream come true for me :)
