2020: a year of perseverance for Tagboard
2020 was a lot of things for the world, most of which can be summed up in a simple GIF:
But for Tagboard, it was a year of perseverance.
People familiar with us might look at the pandemic circumstances & think "This company is going to have a hard time surviving through this".
And for good reason, the odds have been stacked against us.
1) We have a large footprint in news, sports, & entertainment where clients couldn't hold physical events with fans, or in some instances even reach their studios due to COVID restrictions. Their budgets were cut and team members lost.
2) Tagboard is largely bootstrapped, so having never taken a round of venture funding, we don't have deep resource backing, thus our margin for error is slim.
3) Like the rest of the world we are ALL dealing with personal circumstances from the world being turned upside-down.
But we didn't just survive 2020, we thrived. How? I've illustrated the high points below:
- We made tough decisions = going fully remote, reduced spending, stopped looking to raise & focused on execution (control what you can control).
- We made easy decisions = do everything humanly possible to keep our team intact and avoid layoffs or furloughs.
- We trusted in our vision:
As the future of media is driven through the cloud, stories will be delivered with greater context, more opportunities to engage, & the ability to measure across every connected media property to deliver optimal value.
- We executed against our mission:
Tagboard arms the producers and storytellers of the world with the platform to build, evolve, innovate, and create impact for their fans, and their bottom line.
- We lived our values.
Give a Sh*t. We know that we’re all on the same team, and we care more about a team win than an individual win, so we check our egos at the door.
Own It. We say what we mean but always with respect. We are fiercely confident in the collaborative decisions that we make as a team and are held accountable for our actions.
We Are Warriors. We move forward with confidence. We are passionate, proud and always persevere. If we fail, we fail forward. And we celebrate what we learn along the way.
Nothing is Sacred. We expect the unexpected, and when necessary, we shift gears. We are open-minded and welcome change.
Empowered by Diversity. We believe strongly in impact through action. We build up, not down. We empower each other to speak out. Together we foster an environment that highlights and amplifies the diverse voices and cultures of our employees and communities we serve.
- We doubled down on our roadmap and the strengths of our product: With a brilliant product team, innovative partners, luck, & timing, the platform we've been creating over the last few years met an accelerated demand due to the pandemic circumstances.
- Our partners embraced the moment & evolved w/ us, pushed us, trusted & believed in us
What were the results?
?? 4th consecutive year with exponential growth
