2020 - The Year of Change(s)

Managing Change, no matter how big or small, is a daily thing in our life.

We make plan, we execute it, but along the way, things comes up and we adjust the plan.

Usually visionary person that lay down the vision, then thinker who goes deep to plan it and then in the end, it really depends on who execute the plan; because like wise people said, plan without execution is like hallucination, or in softer term... a dream.

back to Managing Change, the year of 2020 started about 45 days ago and things (big or small) happened in our life and require us to adjust our plan.

as big as the COVID-19 outbreak, or as small as the bag you want to buy is not available in the store near your house and you need to travel further to find it.

In reality, change happen every second,

just look at the mirror and look at yourself (whether you grow older every second :))

What matters is what and how our action/reaction with the change.

If your travel plan potentiallly change because of COVID-19; if you can sleep because of too much screen time; if your spouse/partners not happy because of something (need to find out the something); if your career seems stuck because of .... (need to find out the reason from several sources); if your store does not attract as much traffic as the similar store near you because of .... ; if your .... not ..... because of ..... (the list goes on).

my recommendations for Managing Change are:

  1. Understand your original plan/motive/goals/reason.
  2. Understand your current situation.
  3. Understand the change itself. Find a reliable souce of information to validate the change.
  4. Build your list of options. The bigger the change, you should have bigger/deeper list. Ensure your list of options also contain the list of support you need to execute the plan.
  5. Act on it. FAST. (well.... sometime waiting or do nothing actually can be a better options).
  6. If your "new plan" does not work... come back to no 1.

and in addition: just accept that Life can be unfair and it never will be 100% fair because fairness is different by every individual.

Like Charles Darwin said... "It is NOT the strongest of the species, nor the most intelligent, it is the one most responsive to change, that will survive".
