Is it 2020? Why yes, it is!
Has it been 2 months? 9 weeks? Is it still 2020? Are there really only 191 days until Thanksgiving, or have we moved Thanksgiving?
My friends, amazing colleagues (if you are seeing this, you are indeed amazing) and "extra specially" to my team at large - 19 states strong, part of a team that is nationwide - all heart and all leadership.
Not the year we expected. Not the year we hoped for - but "it aint over til we say it's over" (I think that was an Animal House movie quote).
I spent the past 2 weeks helping some dear friends navigate the waters of change. Giving advice on resumes, helping to write letters and putting amazing people in touch with amazing people. To assist is a blessing. And I pray that my assistance has been, at least a bit helpful.
About 36 hours ago, I learned that I am being called back in to service and will be back to work on Thursday. While the immediate focus has shifted, the mid and long-term focus has not. Not in the slightest.
I will be working with my partners to ensure that we are reopening, activating and back to delivering what we love to deliver for our guests...and doing it in the safest way possible. Not following speculation, hearsay, or rumor, but following the best, factual information to keep our teams safe - and to continue to provide a place to work, enjoy, build a career and prosper.
My heart aches for our team members waiting in the wings – and I look forward to a touchdown and achieving our goal of being whole, as soon and as safe as possible. That goes not only for my team – but my friends and colleagues all across the retail map.
I will promise you this. I will work tirelessly to contribute and deliver as best as humanly possible to accomplish our goals. To my team – I look forward to seeing all of your smiling faces as soon as possible.
To my friends and colleagues far and near…if there is anything I can do for you, ask. If you need help. If you need an ear. If you need a proof read. If you just need a thumbs up emoji. I am here for you.
I’ll leave you with this thought. I spoke with my mom earlier today. She is 91 years old and a proud holocaust survivor. She asked me to convey a message, and here it is…”This too shall pass”
Wishing you all a blessed, healthy, safe, sane evening.
Best from Jerry...A guy who happens to love Francesca's...and on Thursday, will again be an active Regional Director.
