2020- A Truly New Beginning

2020- A Truly New Beginning

For the last 18 years, the turning of the calendar meant jumping straight into the fire. On January second, if not before, I began working intensely to get the preceding year closed out, to get the incoming year's plans moving and to prepare for our annual meetings which were held the third week of January.

This year is different. Now that I'm officially retired from The Medicus Firm, I didn't wake up feeling the pressure of deadlines; That was great! However, I also didn't wake up with the curiosity connected to reviewing what worked and where we struggled in the preceding year, the exhilaration of discovering new ways to solve old problems or the fulfillment of seeing the company and its people growing. I do miss that, which is why I am so excited to work with other staffing leaders and entrepreneurs to grow their businesses.

Being a board member or working as a coach or advisor is different. I always thought of my last role as a player coach, this perspective is more of a GM... I get to be part of the team, but I'm not directly connected to its performance. It allows me to learn about other businesses, their aspirations and challenges and to share my thoughts with them based on my personal experiences in starting, building, growing and selling two businesses. It enables me to help to identify areas in which I can be directly helpful and to dig in from time to time. It enables me to share the many, costly lessons we learned over the years so that others aren't doomed to pay the "dumb tax" the way we did.

To the leaders I'm currently working with, cheers to the new year! I am very excited to help you grow your business and I hope I can help to decrease your stress of getting 2020 off on the right foot! If there are other leaders out there who would like to chat about how I can be of assistance to you, please send me a message.

Happy new year!
