2020 in Rhymes – a special year deserves a special review.

When I sat down with pen and paper to reflect on 2020, I thought: hell – this cannot be a normal LinkedIn Article. 2020 put us on the edge, so this year deserves special treatment. So I started rhyming …

2020 – your end is finally here,

Let’s look back together: What a year!

2020 started out to be really great, 

lots of achievements at a very high rate.

A very new challenge took the world land by land,

it messed with our living – with everything we had planned.

Corona’s been in the news, our daily lives all along,

a very tiny enemy – but then, very strong. 

So, did we surrender? Of course, we did not!

We improvised, adapted, overcame a great lot.

Got creative, used screen backgrounds, worked from home,

did it all by ourselves, but never alone.

We started to manage the crisis, had to let go some of our plans,

hard decisions and radical measures gave us new chance.

REFOCUS: our program to get it done.

And ?done“ is the new synonym for Digital One. 

Five townhalls and many deep dive sessions:

A lot of work to tackle the hard questions. 

I can’t possibly know what my teams did have to go through,

but the team spirit and humanity I met, is our greatest value.

Although this year was challenging and demanding we stood strong together,

achieved a lot, were never lazy and changed things for the better.

And now we look to 2021: where do we run? Will there be fun? 

We are ?inittowinittogether“ - as Digital One.

Let us maintain this spirit and our determination.

But now take some time for your loved ones, or for recreation!

We cannot see the future, but everyone of us will do one thing:

Create a new normal and looking forward to what the new year will bring. 

So let us collectively enjoy the end of this year, get some well-earned rest,

recharge our batteries – and hope for the best!
