2020 in Review (we made it!)

During our annual Tangerine Christmas (not so) away day yesterday, we reviewed the world’s strangest year: 2020!

Back in March at the beginning of lockdown, it was difficult to have any idea what our end of year review would be - a strange situation for a business that writes and generally delivers a pretty strong business plan year on year!

Fast forward nine months and I won’t lie to you, I had some emotional moments yesterday, listening to the guys talking about everything we’ve achieved this year, despite all the challenges we’ve faced!

We have supported and protected our clients with some outstanding work, as well as built stronger than we’d ever imagined possible relationships with people who have become mutually supportive partners.

We have protected our people - and even grown the team, adding 14 new people!

And we’ve even gained three hugely exciting new clients - who’d have thought that back in March - new business!!

And I just couldn’t be more proud of the way the Tangerines have pulled together and supported each other. The wellbeing committee sent out weekly tips for staying strong for 21 consecutive weeks, there was yoga and boot camps (all virtual of course) as well as Friday bars, quizzes and lots of one to one touch base calls checking in on people.

And our Christmas party last night - usually epic and legendary, including the morning afters - was a little less glam (at least from the waists down I’m sure) but no less fun and boozy!

And The Juice Academy, which I have to admit I feared for back in March, has also thrived since we sent out the Bat Signal to all our of contacts - including you guys on social - so a huge thank you for all of your kind introductions and support. 58 jobs created at a time when they’ve never been needed more!

So there went 2020. The strangest year we’ve ever had and hopefully will ever have and yes we’ve all had our sadness and pain along the way (myself included) but I can’t help thinking that it has made us stronger, individually and as teams and I’m very interested to see what 2021 and beyond brings and how we will use what we’ve learned to take us forward.

Have a happy, peaceful and SAFE Christmas and I hope to be able to see you in the real world in 2021!

Years from now, when we look back on 2020, we'll remember people like you and companies like Tangerine, for your boundless optimism and doing the right thing. 2020 has been a bad year but good things have still happened - and Man Utd are only 5 points off top spot!!

Wishing all at Tangerine and The Juice Academy a great new year. Great review Sandy. Glad we came out stronger, wiser and appreciative of the things that matter. Thanks for another amazing but weird year. I have a feeling that 2021 will be one of the best years yet.

This was a lovely reflection and great read, Merry Christmas Sandy!
