2020 Proposed Rate Decrease

NCCI has proposed a 5.4% state-wide average decrease of 2020 workers’ comp rates, due to a significant improvement in loss experience.

In 2016, two separate Florida Supreme Court decisions resulted in changes to the Florida workers’ compensation landscape. Those cases, Castellanos v. Next Door Company, et al. and Westphal v. City of St. Petersburg, et al. brought about retroactive changes to claimant attorney fee and benefit levels. While the full effects of this Supreme Court decision has not completely played out, claims are not reflecting increased costs, as suspected.
