2020 Podcast Picks
I post my annual podcast picks on Linkedin rather than Facebook because I think it's such an important habit for professionals. If you have downtime in airports or rush hour, there's no better use of your time than this free, rolling university.
If you are new to podcasting, you'll need a podcast player. I recommend Pocket Casts. It offers apps for Android/iOS and a web player that syncs with the apps. It also offers a powerful search tool covering a deeper catalog than most other apps. Finally, it features a great variable speed option-- allowing you to power through episodes without listening to the chipmunks.
Click here for my 2019, 2018, and 2017 picks. Most of those are still in my playlist.
If I had to recommend only 3 podcasts:
- The Joe Rogan Experience - deep, long-form interviews from the Bro Oprah
- Making Sense by Sam Harris - the only podcast I've ever paid for
- Armchair Expert - celebrity interviews with a serious psychological undercurrent
Compelling new additions for 2020:
- Faceblind - my own return to podcasting!
- Bawdy Storytelling - like Risk! but dirtier
- The Clearing - the amazing story of a prolific serial killer?
- Dolly Parton's America - a contender for the top 3
- Recode Decode - Venn diagram of tech, politics, and pop culture
- WeCroak - happiness through the contemplation of mortality
The uncountable list of CAE related podcasts:
- Talking CFD - Robin Knowles, the Beyoncé of CFD
- Unprofessional Engineering - Not specifically CAE, but great STEM topics
As usual, please comment with your favorite podcasts from any genre. Always on the lookout for quality!
