2020: To my dear colleagues and friends

2020: The work that my team mates and I do, is not life and death. Covid made that very clear.
The heroes of 2020 were in hospitals and screening stations, keeping the rest of us safe. We just had to do our part to help society function in this strange and disruptive year.
But as a hearing impaired person, it can be a scary situation to be suddenly isolated from everyone else in an unforeseen pandemic of global proportions and your hearing devices have stopped working . Receiving phone calls are hard, staying updated with the news and even responding to shouts or alerts from others is impossible. For this group of people, The Listening Lab remained open, providing parts, repairs, support, tele-audiology when it's limitations could be overcome.
To my stalwart team of healthcare professionals: Thank you for staying in the field without a single word of complaint or grouse. Thank you for being brave even though everyone was fearful. Thank you for taking care of our clients and our business in such unpredictable times. I love you all, and you have both my admiration and my respect. In this season of giving, I wish most of all this holiday this spent meaningfully with the people you most love, doing the things that matter most to you.
What a strange year 2020 is. But it is a timely reminder not to take life as it is for granted. Treasure yourself and the ones you love!
Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!
