We are about a month into the year 2020 so I've decided to provide an update on progress towards my 2020 goals.
- 365 days of Python & R code - follow this hashtag #dailycoding - posting learning progress on social media
Have not missed a single day of coding and really learned a lot this month about R and Python (the hashtag #dailycoding currently has 2,740 followers) and started to build an app that notifies you when the sun is about to rise & set
- Help 20 companies with their social media strategy (focused on companies innovating in the data science and artificial intelligence space)
Provided support to one client
- Obtain 52 PDUs to remain in good standing with Project Management Institute as a PMP holder - take LinkedIn Learning and other courses
Completed 2.5 hours of LinkedIn learning = 2.5 PDUs
- Maintain a list of data science/ artificial intelligence conferences in the US
With the support of Tripp Parker - we have 29 conferences on the list
- Attend 6 conferences (data science, artificial intelligence, social media, banking, etc.) and share insights
Attended my first event of the year on Jan 31, 2020 - Women Who Unqork - NYC
- Publish Mothers of Data Science with Kristen Kehrer
The book is currently with the copy editor
- Publish Data Literacy for Kids with Jordan Morrow
Having difficulties finding the right illustrator for the book; still working on it!
- Run 5 marathons in 5 states (part of We Run Marathons); in addition to several other runs
Barely ran this month but registered for all 5 marathons for the year (NJ, MN, OH, VA, NY)
- Read 20 books and share key highlights (book list)
Read/ listened to 6 books! See the link above for my thoughts on the books completed.
- Conduct 20 Humans of Data Science (HoDS) video interviews
Thank you to Christina Bernard & Purva Pujari for volunteering to help with HoDS! So far, I've interviewed 3 people for Humans of Data Science - Hadelin de Ponteves, Hugo Shi, and Sarah-Nell Rodriques
- Manage the Datacated Challenge project
With the help of Mayank Gondnale - we kicked off the year with a challenge providing a giveaway prize from Jon Krohn - Deep Learning Illustrated

Currently there are 209 freelancers on the list.

- Develop DATAcated product line (calendars, notebooks, t-shirts, pens, etc.)
Have not done anything here this whole month!
- Deliver 5 sessions of data visualization/ Tableau training
Haven't delivered any sessions; might be an indicator of shift in focus
- Volunteer for 20 hours of my time
Have not signed up to volunteer anywhere yet
- Visit 20 museums/ attractions with my family
Took the kids to see the Rockefeller Tree, Central Park, Camelback Mountain Resort, and a show called Rainbow Fish
- Learn how to play Wish You Were Here (by Pink Floyd) on a guitar - record it & share with my network
Confession = I didn't touch the guitar even once this month!
- Have a book signing for The Disruptors: Data Science Leaders and Journey to Data Scientist
Spoke to a few conferences to see if they wanted me to have a book signing; something in the works :)
- Go on 20 fun adventures (e.g. cooking lessons, dancing, pottery, rock-climbing, swimming, long runs, etc.)
Went skiing - need to make time for adventure!
Hope you're having a great year so far...here comes February!!!
Really motivating. How much time of coding on a daily basis good enough?

5 年It’s amazing how much you are able to achieve once you have clear goals set and most importantly check-in on them every month. It was great to meet you in person and hope more of your connections have the opportunity to chat with you as well!
