2020 Bushner’s Spring Ringer Horseshoe Tournament
Someone once said charity starts at home. I wanted to reach out to LinkedIn about a great cause I support that a good friend started. We raise money for a one-of-a-kind summer camp for children of wounded, disabled, or fallen military members. We work through our local AMVETS to benefit a Golden Corrals program called “Camp Corral.” Camp Corral began in 2011 and is free. The program relies upon donations and fundraising efforts to operate. Douglas J. Bushner, Founder and Chairmen of our event, chose these two charitable organizations because we could help both the veterans and the children at the same time. We wanted to serve those who have already served for us.
Our event is called the Bushner’s Spring Ringer Horseshoe Tournament, which is held every April. We started the tournament in 2013 with 16 players and now have grown to 40 players. It has always been Doug’s vision to make this a charitable event, and in 2016 it finally came to fruition.
In 2016 we partnered with the local AMVETS Post 201 and Golden Corral to make our efforts official and take our fundraising to the next level. We were fortunate enough to get in touch with the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) organization that runs a scholarship fund called Just B Kids. This is incredible because they then match the money we raise, which in turn doubles the amount sent to Camp Corral. In the past four years, we have helped generate $84,524. This provided us the opportunity to send 140 military children to Camp Corral for a week so far.
We are continuing our efforts to see how many military children we can send to camp in 2020. The annual fundraiser now includes gathering cash donations, BBQ Plate sale, T-Shirt Sales, and a 50/50 raffle drawing the day of the event. Our 2020 fundraising goal is to hit or exceed $15,000 again.
We are requesting a charitable contribution of $100 to $1,000+. However, there is no donation amount too small are too large. Every little bit helps! Please note that 100% of the donations go directly to the AMVETS to benefit Camp Corral, and most likely, your donation will be matched.
