2019 Reading List
Before the year is over, I am proudly crossing a goal off my list: to read a total of 24 books. So insightful to look back and realize they are a mirror reflection of my journey throughout the year, full of behavioral economics, startup basics, and a biography of Churchill (which, let's face it, deserves a category of its own). Here we are, in the order of completion, the ones that stood out the most being underlined:
- High Output Management, Andrew S. Grove
- Thinking: Fast and Slow, Daniel Kahneman
- Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking, Susan Cain
- The One Minute Manager, Ken Blanchard
- Nudge, Richard Thaler and Cass Sunstein
- Zero to One, Peter Thiel
- E-Myth Revisited, Michael Gerber
- The Art of the Start, Guy Kawasaki
- Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us, Daniel Pink
- Predictably Irrational, Dan Ariely
- The Mom Test, Rob Fitzpatrick
- Your Money or Your Life, Vicki Robin
- The Tao of Leadership, John Heider
- Developing the Leader within You, John C. Maxwell
- Dollars and Sense, Dan Ariely and Jeff Kreisler
- Never Split the Difference, Christopher Voss
- Four Steps to Epiphany, Steve Blank
- Purple Cow, Seth Godin
- Understand, Manage, and Prevent Algorithmic Bias: A Guide for Business Users and Data Scientists, Tobias Baer
- How to Lie with Statistics, Darrell Huff
- Churchill: Walking with Destiny, Andrew Roberts
- Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die, Chip Heath and Dan Heath
- Atomic Habits, James Clear
- Good Economics for Hard Times, Abhijit V. Banerjee and Esther Duflo
- (bonus) Why Nations Fail, Daron Acemoglu and James A. Robinson
As I am finishing up the last ones, it’s taken me straight back to college times, reviving the deep passion for economics. Quite a few things have changed since, due to both groundbreaking research and new developments in the world. Alas, more economics books in 2020! And biographies.

5 年Thanks for sharing this list, Kat! David Harvey’s “A Brief History of Neoliberalism” is a goodie I’d recommend: on political economy and a critical lens of neoliberalism and capitalism.
