2019 New year’s message
It is Prof. Jonathan Jansen who said, “We shouldn’t go where the noise is, but where the need is.†While Prof Jansen, was referring mainly to the sphere of education, many make the same error in commercial businesses. The mistake of following the noise instead of following the need. In today’s highly competitive environment, businesses exists primarily to meet and exceed the needs of its customers. It is surprising however that the customer needs are rarely understood by business leading to either loss of revenue or increase in operating costs, none which are desirable.
At SMD we have chosen to take time out to investigate where the needs is. While we do not claim to have all the answers, we certainly believe that addressing the customer pain points is far superior to merely focusing on developing a superior product. Seth Godin says, “You don't find customers for your products. You find products for your customers.†We believe that organisations that will thrive in this competitive environment are those organisations that are effective rather than merely efficient, organisations that do things right rather than doing the right things!
SMD therefore believes that trust is earned and thus, we aim to consistently provide value adding solutions to our clients.
