2018 - The Year for Adventure

Back in November I shared details of the groundbreaking Life's an Adventure event, taking place at Somerley Estate on 29-30 September 2018. I'm sharing this article now as I think a number of my Linked In contacts may be interested in being involved, or you know someone else who will be - either personally or from an organisational point of view.
A quick recap...
This 2-day festival is a celebration of the adventure, vitality and freedom that comes with life experience. It will provide inspiration and ideas for over 50s looking to plan their next phase. Over 50s who want to pave the way, be different and create their own adventure; sticking two fingers up to tradition and age stereotypes!
Why are we doing it?
Over 50s feel younger than ever, they feel like now’s the time and there’s so much to achieve; in a recent survey led by Cigna 50 year olds said they believed old age started at between 73 & 83.
Trends in how people age and live their lives are changing fast; a 3-stage life of education, employment, retirement is becoming less attractive and people over 50 are seeking new experiences that add to their life satisfaction and personal development. For example, over 50s now account for 43% of all those starting their own business.
They have money and time to invest in themselves. According to Saga, Britain’s over 50s population holds nearly 70% of all household wealth in the UK – equivalent to £6.2 trillion.
We know this – we’re living for longer, doing more with our lives and willing to do things differently to our parents and our parents’ parents. Yet the marketing and icons of older (Bold) age don’t seem to have caught up! Just take a look at the road signs for 'elderly people' as one example.
This is why we’re bringing together experts, exhibitors, renowned speakers and activities to create inspiration, direction, confidence and motivation for people to begin planning their next phase of life. Live entertainment and gourmet food in the stunning surroundings will add that festival vibe; creating the perfect environment for people to reflect on and plan their lives.
What opportunities are there for organisations and individuals?
The event creates an opportunity for you to showcase your brand and grow your database of customer contacts. You can do this via full event sponsorship through to exhibiting and demonstrating products/services and speaking on one of our Masterclass stages – there are packages available to suit all budgets and we have Early Bird rates until 28th February, 2018.
At the moment, we are particularly keen to find speakers who specialise in any of the areas below: -
· Benefits of being an ‘olderpreneur’
· Forging a second, third, fourth career
· Nutrition – what should I eat to stay healthy and strong?
· Financial wellbeing
· Managing our brains as we age
· Managing stress and anxiety
· Fitness over 50
· Alternative financial investments
· Property – Airbnb, buy to let, property abroad, property investment
· Upsizing, downsizing, rightsizing your home
· Relocating – new town, new country
· Managing relationships through changing family dynamics
· Grandparenting
· Caring for older relatives
· Dealing with the inevitable…death
· Overcoming or living well with illness
