2018 in retrospect

As far as writing is concerned, 2018 turned out to be a distinctly different year.
I didn’t write anything new on #Wattpad this year. Started a short story and a poetry collection but haven’t completed it yet. Readership grew by 35% or so. Wattpad itself reformatted and reinvented its website structure this year and pretty much threw the writer community into confusion for a month or so (at least, that is what it seemed like to me!), but is coming back to predictability now.
Also started a (much) longer story, which should hopefully see the light of day soon. The work on #thestorymint took off, with chapters in serials here and there, and of course an anthology in which I write some chapters (and a starter J ) got published. Saw my name in print for the first time (leaving aside some college publications). That felt good. I joined a site called #StoryMirror, which is more – shall we say – Indian in its population of both writers and readers; kind of helps me experience a different reading and writing style and oh yes, they might be publishing one of my short stories too J
I continued writing on #Linkedin. Much fewer articles than earlier years – I did only four, but one was based on original research on coping strategies to deal with toxic bosses. Toxic leadership is an area of management that I am personally very interested in – possibly a consequence of having worked with a couple of them at various points in time in my career (!).
One article, on transforming literacy levels in a factory, got in a whole lot of feedback and comments.
Aside from that, I did a lot of free-form posts on Linkedin and some had overwhelming numbers – one post crossed 1 lakh views and another crossed 40,000 views (in the Linkedin scheme of things, a view is a read). And I also had formal professional journals – #AllThingsTalent and #Grosum - publishing some of my earlier articles.
Look forward to your reflections on your 2018 as well! Do leave your thoughts in the comments.

6 年A good read! "Toxic Leadership" is witty and sharp as your observation; let's see how it unfolds in 2019. Best, Sudip
