2018 GVC Rising Stars recognizes Shell's own Carl Stjernfeldt

This week, 700 venture professionals attended the third annual Global Corporate Venturing (GCV) Summit in Monterrey, California. It’s my pleasure to share that Carl Stjernfeldt, my lead for digital investments, was recognized for the second year in a row as one of GVC’s Rising Stars. Global Corporate Venturing selected these stars as “representing the brightest prospects, and those who have already been changing the industry.” The selection process involved researching more than 10,000 industry professionals across about 2,000 venturing units, and only two energy company representatives made the cut.

I’ve worked with Carl since he joined STV in 2013 and he brought our team valuable digital VC experience from his previous role with a top tier venture firm in Boston, MA. Today he is a very seasoned VC professional with the right mix of venture capital and knowledge of the Energy Business. His pattern recognition skills are very well developed, as demonstrated by several great investments in companies active at the interface between digital and energy.

When Carl first joined our team, he spent time shooting roots into the Houston Shell eco-system, but he has recently returned to his home base in Boston to lead Shell’s VC activities in our hub at the MIT campus. We have recently strengthened the local team with Brian Panoff (whom we hired from Siemens’ CVC unit) and Alexander Urban (our new Investment Associate).
