"2018, Above and Beyond"

How was 2017 for you? Was it everything you ever wanted it to be, or did you find yourself coming up short on some deals, plans or intentions? Yes, we’ve all set out to do a lot of things, but if we fell short, it’s because of the lack of focus, the failure to follow through, or the lack of drive and determination. In 2018, whatever the problem was or problems were, this is not the year to repeat the same acts, procedure or steps which brought you half of the way, rather than all the way. This year, it will require that we all go ‘Above and Beyond” what we think, imagine or contemplate doing. This is that year. The year where you break down every wall of mediocrity and procrastination. We can no longer have a wait and see mentality, but rather a “do whatever it takes” mentality. When we adopt this way of both thinking and doing, it will cause certain laws to kick into motion and then we are able to see and witness the results from our hard work and efforts.

So, what does it mean to go “Above and Beyond?” Let’s look at a true story which is very dear to me; a story about a friend of mine, who for the sake of this article, let’s call him Jack. Jack loved playing the game of football and desired to play for a certain Division I team, but because he was not recruited by this specific team, but he never lost the desire to play the game of football, so he began to look at other schools. He was willing to do the seemingly, ridiculous and drive to the state Virginia, knock on the head coach’s front door at 4AM and knocked until the coach came to the door to see who was at his front door. So, the coach responded to the knocks and said, “Who is it out there?” Jack then replied, “My name is Jack and I want to play for you and on your football team.” The coach then replied, “is that so? Well, meet me in my office tomorrow and we will talk about it.” So, on the same day, several hours later that morning, he showed up at the coach’s office and met with the coach. At the end of the meeting, the coach offered him a scholarship. I’d bet the coach had never had a player come to his house at 4AM and express his desire to play football before. Jack played for that coach for one year, then he decided to walk-on to the team he had originally desired to play for. It was that year that he decided to walk-on to they, won the college football national championship. The story is really two stories combined into one story, because they are both connected by the determination of Jack to play football, receive a scholarship and eventually played for his favorite college football team of all-time. The national championship trophy and ring was icing on the cake, per se. The very next year Jack was killed in an automobile accident. Even though he died a tragic death, he still lived to show us all that when you go “Above and Beyond” you can achieve your dreams, goals and desires; Jack did just that and subsequently was rewarded at the end.

So, how much effort should you put in to achieve your dream? The answer is, “All of it!” When you decide to go “All-In” you qualify yourself to be put in position to receive that which you have qualified for. This is the difference between winners and losers, per se; on one side, the winner first sees the desired target and destination, then puts in the necessary work to that it takes to not only meet the desired goal/objective, but exceed it. Then on the other hand, the loser recites the words to him/herself, that “it doesn’t take all of that.” Those negative and condescending words, actions and deeds, can and will result in negative results.In this year of 2018, do more and do extra; not just what is required and what is the minimum, but go "Above and Beyond" what is expected. Be determined to put in all your efforts with the intention to yield a successful outcome. In 2018, go “Above and Beyond” so that next year around this time, your efforts throughout the year will be well represented at the end of the year with trophies, testimonials and other successful results.  You are SUCCESS and I Am,
