2017 Wishes Borrowed from an Unknown Sardinian Poet
I read these simple verses and humbly tried to translate them in English….
I do not want gold or precious stones. What really matters are other things...
I wish for health and good fortune, bright skies from the shining of the sun and the moon; warm seas and fields in bloom.
I wish for a lighter life, made of love alone, of peaceful people, with sincere souls. Good people, true friends.
This is the hope for me and for you, a desire for all the ones I love.
A few words that come from the heart.
A few rhymes for the few who, in my life, are worth more than any treasure.
Original version below:
No cherjo oros, nè prendas pretziosas, su chi contat abberu sun atteras cosas...
Dia cherrer salude, bene e fortuna, chelos luchentes, de sole e de luna;
mares caentes, campos in frore.
Dia cherrer vida lepia, de solu amore; de zente de pache, animas sintzeras. Zente bona, amicas veras.
Custu est s'auguriu pro mene e pro tene.
Unu disizu pro chie cherjo bene, pacas paragulas chi venin dae coro, rimas pro pacos chi, in sa vida mea, valen prus de cada oro.
