2017 Porsche 718 Boxster S comes with turbocharged and intercooled four cylinder using direct fuel injection system pairing with six speed manual transmission, generates 350 horsepower and 309 lb-ft of torque. Earlier version had six cylinder engine. Driving excitement kicks with throttle input and turbocharged engine advancements. Turbine wheel connected by shaft to centrifugal compressor, compressor helps to boosts pressure along with dense air to raise power output. There is direct exhaust flow towards the turbine wheel due to small pivoting vanes, omitting lag at low rpm and ready to intake boost by driver. Auto start/stop comes as standard, efficiency got improved with intake and exhaust value operating at variable timing. Torque remains flat from 1900 to 4500 rpm helps quick pass without any downshift.
Clutch engagement arrives before 4500 rpm causes traction and lack of control. Turbo clocks 4.3 seconds for 60 mph from zero, quick is tenth of seconds quicker over earlier lighter Boxter S. Top acceleration remains quiet satisfying. Boxster provides super pedal feel, effort along with impeccable braking. Consuming 144 feet to stop from 70 mph which is shorter over earlier Boxster S and five feet better than Jaguar F-type S.
