2016 Nat Seaman Award from NYSAER
Steve Malito
Partner & Chair, State Government Relations Practice at Davidoff Hutcher & Citron LLP
On November 7th, I was honored to receive the Nat Seaman Award from the New York State Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired (NYSAER). Below are some excerpts from my remarks:
Thank you NYSAER for selecting me to receive the 2016 Nat Seaman Award. Nat Seaman was a blind attorney that worked for the Veteran’s Administration and this award is given to those that help in working on legislation and also to someone who has contributed to or influenced practices and performance in furthering the cause of disabled and/or visually impaired persons. It is an honor to be considered in that light. Since 2009, I have had the distinct pleasure of working with so many members of the blind and visually impaired community to help make licensure for vision rehabilitation professionals and orientation and mobility specialists a reality in New York.
I have always believed that this kind of recognition is reflective of the people that you work with. Nancy Miller, Grace Ambrose Zaken, the members of the New York Vision Rehabilitation Association, professionals in the field and the blind and visually impaired community have constantly energized me and provided invaluable advice and direction as we have set about this task. Thank you to all of you for all of your effort, support and determination.
It is truly an honor to receive this award.
