Is 2016 your "Sweet 16"?

Oh to be 16 again.

Two days after I turned 16 was the absolute best day of my life.  With apologies to my three sons (each of their births is tied for a close second) the day I got my driver's license still stands as the highlight of my life. (The only reason I didn't get it on my birthday is that it fell on a Saturday in 1972 in the days when the registry office in Alberta was still run by the government and they were closed.)  The freedom, joy, exhilaration, and pure excitement of being able to drive on my own combined with just being 16 has never been matched.  And I've had a pretty incredible life filled with thousands of amazing experiences.  But driving, on your own, able to go absolutely anywhere … at 16 … WOW!

A case could be made for 16 being the absolute best age of all.  At 16 we are fearless, bursting with possibility, we know everything, we can do anything, and our whole life is ahead of us.  (Except of course when we are feeling overwhelmed and crushed as all 16 year olds do from time to time.)  The hormones are raging and we are no longer children yet don't have the responsibilities of adulthood.  The magic age … Sweet 16!

Is #2016 going to be a "sweet" year for you?  It's the year I turn 60 and amazingly my life is once again bursting with possibility.  It's a more centred and peaceful awareness certainly, but once again  I feel I can do anything, and my whole life is ahead of me.  The one difference is that instead of knowing everything, I'm now very aware of just how little I know.  The more I learn, the more I realize I don't know …  which in itself is a very exciting realization.
