2016 Ready, Set, GO!

Hello 2016!

Have you set your goals set for 2016?

After a brief reflection of my 2015 results, I am focused on creating an AMAZING 2016!

Have you ever felt like your were stuck, while you were figuring things out?

For me 2015 was one of figuring some things out before I was able to go forward. Figuring it out required the breaking of the old comfortable routine.  I needed information from research, trial & error, looking in wrong places and dead ends.  The important thing I know is to keep doing and look for the “ahas”.  

“Ahas” that come from my creative pursuit of the answer energize me!  

I found my "aha" by sifting through all that I had learned in 2015.  Dismissing the noise and sharpening my focus on what was working and looking deeper to see how I could improve upon my results.  

Now I have a sharpened focus on the less which will allow me to be and do more. Now I must focus on doing the steps necessary to reach my goal.  

Failure to FOCUS will keep me from reaching my GOAL!  

This reminds me of hunting pheasant & quail as a young boy with my father on my grandparents farm in Kansas.  For years I only saw the birds after they had, scared me to death and taken flight.  The birds had no reason to fear me.  I walked for miles looking ahead of me where birds fly, focused on the sky.  

If you have never experienced it, a flock of hidden birds create a heart stopping ruckus during take off.  The birds I was hunting gained a significant head start by startling me.  I was working from a state of shock and was slow to raise my gun to my shoulder and take a shot at birds that were well out of range.  My results were horrible.  I regularly returned empty handed.  

This was entirely different than trap & skeet target practice.  I was good at trap & skeet.  I was ready, I knew where the targets were coming from and when, only after I yelled, "pull".  My problem with hunting was the birds never waited until I yelled “pull”.  

One time, while walking a fence row with my father, he pointed at a large cubby of quail running on the ground directly in front of us.  

My “aha”!  The birds were on the ground!

Quickly they ran for cover.  This time, I knew they were there.  As we neared their hiding place, I was ready.  All of a sudden, the unmistakable sound of birds taking off happened.  Unlike prior instances, I was not startled, but ready.  I knew what I was looking for, where to look and when to be ready.  My results were good.  I got one!

As a child I only recognized birds flying in the sky.  Why would I look anywhere but the sky for the birds?  It seems so obvious now, but until I had the “aha”, the birds I was hunting were unattainable, because I was focused on the wrong thing.  Once I had the additional information of where the birds started from, my "aha", I changed my focus.  

I became unstoppable.   

2015 was a year of looking for and finding the focus in order to be more successful.  

In 2016, I know my target.  I know my where & how.  I am FOCUSED and ready to do the work necessary to reach my 2016 goals.
