Highlights of 2016:

Kent Mills CIO Wakefield Canada “When I first saw the CIOSynergy invite come across my desk, my first thought was ‘how can I break away for the better part of a day, and what’s going to be the value?’ After attending the session last week in Toronto, I can say that the combination of great presentations, CIO panels, round-table peer discussions, and relevant vendor forum was a very good use of my time. The keynote speaker alone (Byron Reese) was worth attending for, for his frame-breaking perspective on future technology and world impact. The event was well-run, the venue was excellent; first class all the way. I will be marking my calendar for future CIOtoronto events.”

Rob Jemmett VP/Chief Information Officer Munich Reinsurance "Thanks for the invite to the CIOToronto last week. It was my first time attending a CIOToronto event. I really enjoyed the session."

Andrew Marchewka Senior Director Enterprise Architecture CIBC "As far as the last week session goes, I enjoyed very much the discussions by various CIOs and their experience sharing from the work they do. It provided to me interesting perspectives from the point of view of industries other than Financial, which is the main focus area for me. The session also provided plenty of opportunities to interact and share some experiences on personal level. The key note by Byron Reese was very forward looking, entertaining and thought provoking. In summary it was a very interesting session."

Adrian Paulse IT Director Alamos Gold “Well done to the team for putting together an outstanding event. The audience was very specific as was the content. Overall, the event was very engaging with topics relevant for many attendees"

Desmond DeGazon VP, Information Technology Sutton Special Risk “The CIOsynergy event, and those like it, are among my favorite conferences. The smaller attendee group allows for more meaningful networking and sharing opportunities, which are key to any successful tenure. Further, keeping the sponsor lists down to a manageable number allows me to review all the technologies, services and providers; many of whom I would not have been exposed to otherwise. I’ve already opened discussions with those I found useful for integration into our IT environment. A great format for any time deficient IT professional.”

Todd Dekkinga Executive Director of Versartis (from San Fran Dinner) "The CIOdinners are very well organized and attract top IT leaders from around the San Francisco Bay area. It is great to catch up with peers at the events and also meet new ones in a small setting where we actually have the ability to talk and collaborate. Everyone seems to have a different approach to IT and being able to hear about all of each other’s solutions is invaluable. I always leave these dinners gaining new friends and ideas that I can apply immediately. Meeting former NBA players is a bonus."

Leena Patel | VP, Innovation, Technology & Performance MacLaren McCann “CIOsynergy helps create a dialogue among peers. In a space that’s ever changing with new technologies, advancements in big data, analytics and data sciences this makes this forum unique where peers can collaborate, share ideas, tell stories “what not to do” or what to watch out for. A great session, looking forward to the next one! ”

Dave Ruedger Director, Cybersecurity Operations at Maxim Integrated “These types of events are really valuable for me and give me an opportunity to network with my peers and find out what others are doing with respect to security that is totally relevant to what is affecting me at the moment. This meeting was great on multiple levels. I had a really engaging experience with the people at my table as we addressed everything from ransomware to strategies for attacking insider threats. Plus, the guest speaker was really inspiring and offered up some great life advice that translates well into an industry that can be overly bogged down by negative events. So kudos to you all for organizing this. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend these to any of my peers.”

Sandee Dela Cruz Director of IT at Crescita Therapeutics Inc. “What a wonderful experience and a great way to network with peers! The knowledge shared between the leaders around the table were so valuable. I now have a better foundation and insight for creating a much more effective and motivated IT Department.”

Rose Kim | Director IT Applications Alameda Health System "The CIO dinners enable Bay Area IT leaders to exchange ideas on how to address emerging challenges in the ever-changing technology landscape. The venues are perfect for gaining a more global perspective necessary to anticipate the impact of IT trends such as emerging markets and disruptive technologies. I would definitely recommend this to my peers as a way to engage in thought leadership and network with like-minded IT leaders."

Renjie Wang Specialty's Cafe & Bakery CIO "These events have been a great venue to network with my peers, share insights and discuss challenges that are cross industry/discipline. The sponsors are of quality and relevant, often evoking discussion of opportunity that are looming in the horizon. Highly recommended for CIO to leverage as a collaboration platform."

Rajiv Tibrewala- Safeway IT Director "The event organized by CIOsynergy was not only informative but also provided a great opportunity to network with peers in the industry and also get their perspectives on their experience with the product or the likelihood of them using the product. It was good to hear first hand how the product solution was benefitting their organization. This was incidentally not a high pressure sales pitch gathering. The relaxed approach and great atmosphere made it a very enriching experience. CIOsynergy also brought in Marcus Phiser (x-Bulls NBA player) to the dinner event. This made it an incredible experience and very diverse in its approach. Was amazing to see how technology and sports came together. Definitely look forward to such future events."

Elizabeth. Sr. IT Director - McKesson "I enjoyed it, and appreciated how the vendor started preso while food was served, and stuck with the 1 hr. I also appreciated the seating arrangement so we could get to know both the vendor and colleagues. The venue was convenient, valet, and food was great. Had a positive impression of the company."

David Williams Chief Information Officer | Southwest Network "The CIOphoenix 2016 event was an enjoyable event. I really liked that it was not a sales pitch, but an opportunity to meet with other CIOs and learn about other businesses and the challenges they experience. Even across industries there are opportunities to learn for other’s successes, challenges and mistakes. Marc Randolph of Netflix as the keynote speaker was both entertaining and enlightening. Great event, hope there are many more in the future."

Ron Thompson, Director, Kantar IT Risk Management “CIOSynergy was packed with CIO and IT executive leadership professionals for a very ‘dense’ networking opportunity. A CIO forum and the Q&A following presentations were fielded and managed by a very professional event moderator. Presentations and open time slots for networking were distributed on the agenda such that it maximized the event’s overall value. Breaking away from my busy work schedule for an afternoon was well-invested.“

Michael D. Harris, Chief Technology Officer, GlobalMed "I have been to many forums and summits over the past 20 years and most of them warrant little then having a group of CxO’s types get up on stage and tell everyone how much they’ve done and how correct their ideas and forecast have been. I get tired - eat – and leave. Thinking this may have been another yawner, I almost didn’t go. I could not have been any more wrong. I so enjoyed myself, meeting equals and listening to the panel of execs. The questions were intelligent and focused from within the groups disciplines. The vendor all fit the environment and well educated and liked. This is what a CIO summit should be. And to top it off you had Marc Randolph ! Well done!!!!!"

Yianni Andrews Chief Information Officer "I had the opportunity to attend and be part of a CIO panel at the CIOsynergy in Phoenix. CIOsynergy, unlike other meetings or conferences, provided CIOs from many different industry sectors the opportunity to meet and have 1:1 conversations with vendors and colleagues. This is a valuable access to any CIO who needs to ask specific questions about his environment and getting personalized solutions from vendors that address his vision and concerns. The keynote speaker, Mark Randolph, provided CIOs with rare inside information to his success and a road map to successful entrepreneurship. The staff of CIOsynergy were friendly, knowledgeable and super accommodating."

Douglas W Cummings Chief Information Officer Arizona Game and Fish Department "CIOphoenix 2016 delivered in a BIG way! The insight I gained from the speakers and the other attendees was of immediate value. I returned to my office armed with information that I was able to immediately leverage to drive innovation and business value! I also want to say Marc Randolph was amazing. If he had been the only speaker, it still would have been worth investing an entire day!"

Derek Holmes | CIO ALEGEUS "I found the secureCISO Boston 2016 conference a valuable use of my time. In a short window of time it gave me access to three great resources:

·    Peers. It provided a chance to meet with my counterparts which always helps as we are all dealing with many of the same challenges.

·    Security Experts. It provided experts’ insights into best practices and where cyber-security is headed.

·    Security Vendors. I was able to connect with two vendors whose offerings directly apply to current security challenges I am encountering.

Leerink Partners CIO Jeff Gerson "It was a good day and a worthwhile use of my time. I mostly got value from discovering new vendors that I hadn’t heard of, as well as learning some new things about vendors that I am always doing business with. Networking with peers was decent. View was tremendous. Food was good. The event flowed nicely. Speakers were of relevant stature to be worthy of my time."

Narasimha (Neal) Karre Director, IT Governance Risk and Compliance BCBS of Massachusetts "I did find value with the event from planning logistics, event topics, presenters and pertinent panel discussions on current topics. The event also provided great networking opportunities with peers from various verticals. I would recommend this event to all senior and executive leaders. Look forward for the future events. Job well done CIOsynergy !"

Kal Subramanian VP Cyber Security, Fraud & Authentication Wells Fargo "The best 6 hours of time I have spent in recent times. Everything about the session was worth its weight in Gold! I loved the key note speakers, the booths, the session with Todd Barnum, CISO from GoPro was remarkable. The icing on the cake was the Biz Stone “fire side chat” where he was just his natural self and painted a very powerful vision of Social Media. I made professional connections with the people I needed to and the population of attendees was just the perfect size and skillset for me to network with."

Neal Wright Chief Information Officer On Lok "The events hosted by CIOsynergy are a valuable component of my networking and crowdsourcing. I have limited time for attending events away from my office, and I always make time for CIOsynergy events. The organizers of CIOsynergy always bring interesting speakers, and I always walk-away with a new perspective. The vendors are relevant to my needs and are also unobtrusive when I want to focus on other aspects of the event. I’ve also developed some great connections who I look forward to seeing at future events."

Manfred Dehmer, VP, IT & Systems, Sierra Wireless, Inc. "It was great to (re-)connect with my colleagues at the recent inaugural CIOsynergy event in Vancouver, BC. The organizer made sure that we had quite a bit of networking time and opportunities. We all strive for the same goals, whether it is Security, Cloud, Big Data, the Internet of Things, or whatever else is at the top of today’s agenda. The distinguishing factor is how we go about realizing these goals – being able to compare approaches with many of my peers elevated the event to a valuable gathering of likeminded executives"

Alma Barranco-Mendoza, Chief Information Officer Canadian Space Society "I really enjoyed participating at CIOvancouver 2016. The choice of speakers was very good. I enjoyed hearing what my peer CIOs' current projects, challenges, and visions for the future are since all of us face similar issues. I thought it was a good balance of talks and networking opportunities. I appreciated the time allotted to talk with the vendors and peers in an informal format. It was long enough that it allowed me to make a few good connections with a couple of vendors for some upcoming projects. I also thought it was, overall, a good venue, the food was excellent and the conference space was comfortable, although the hallway got a bit crowded at times. Overall, great job! I look forward to the next one."

Saint Patrick Regional Secondary School CIO Peter Holowka "CIOsynergy was a great event. It was a wonderful opportunity to network with peers and to hear the current concerns of top-level IT professionals. The ability to exchange ideas with others from similar and different industries was particularly valuable. Thanks again for a first class event."

Olaf Neumann, Chief Information Officer, Inland Behavioral and Health Services, Inc. "Great event and superb location in downtown LA at the Biltmore Millennium Los Angeles hotel. The speaker line up was excellent as always and the event timing was great. The discussions were on point in and in line with current events. I am looking forward attending future events."

Zelmai Arbab Powerwave Technologies CIO "Secure CISO LA 2016 was a very informative and educational event for me. Best of all, the venue was organized in a manner that allowed us to easily network with and learn from reputable security experts from various industries. I very much look forward to future events"

Kerry Boyer Information Security Officer CSU Fullerton and CSU Dominguez Hills "It was a pleasure to be invited and to attend the SecureCISOLA 2016 forum. I greatly appreciated the intimate atmosphere with vendors and others in my field sharing in informative table discussions as well as switching tables midway through. The topics were informative and I think well-paced by the panel moderator. I very much appreciated the keynote speaker as I felt he was engaging, knowledgeable and well verse in his Cybersecurity field of expertise. All in all a great use of my time, topics to think about, in a beautiful atmosphere."

USMC CIO Rahil Patel “This was absolutely a remarkable setup in ensuring that sharing information and collaboration occurred amongst executives across multiple industries, illuminating significant Cyber Security issues that may affect industries that haven’t thought about particular events that may occur. Thanks again, looking forward to the next opportunity to attend another successful SecureCISO event.”
