My last post, on Frank Gehry's behavior solicited many comments about him as an architect and his work as relevant architecture! In this post I would like to invite you all to take your time and tell us all what you think about these questions! What is Architecture? What do architects do? And finally, who is an architect?

9 年I don't think we ask ourselves those questions often enough. For me...Architecture is such a personal journey....but i also believe in making good design accessible to any building and any client that i deal with. You should be as in love with the possibilities of a small commercial building as a huge public building. Funnily enough...i have not won that many awards...a few prizes for the design team on some competitions..some of which led to actual projects...but i know i am not mediocre in my thinking or design and my clients are usually happy with the collaboration that leads to a satisfying end result.

9 年Ali-great line of interest but Linkedin doesn't support images in the comments-so I will just agree with Terry.
Putting my experience in engineering coordination quality reviews in the building design and construction industry to use in the disaster recovery industry for residential replacement.
9 年Ali Heshmati, interesting questions and one that I also tried to discuss in one of my posts. I will explain. From the point of view of someone interested in the industry an Architect is someone who designs buildings and spaces. Architecture is the industry in which the Architect works. However, from the stand point of many lay people and/or into technology, an Architect is the person who writes the code for computers to work. Architecture is the process by which programs work together without flaws and errors. Is this a wrong way to think about it? Probably not since both industries are "designing and building" important pieces of civilization that are relied upon by many people. The problem is that confusion it generates when trying to communicate important issues in both industries.
