Close your eyes and imagine your organization populated with people who know what your organization's purpose is. You do not have to manage them, or micro-manage them. They make decisions and act according to the overall strategic growth objectives of your organization. They effectively lead each other, themselves, and clientele through common values and influence. You can focus on strategic objectives and where the organization is going. You're having fun living your purpose.

Now, compare that with where you are now. Visualize the level of management, or worse, micro-management you have to engage in to get your people to operate in accordance to your objectives. Tap into your common frustrations when people do not take initiative, and find themselves waiting for your direction. Tap into your frustration when you feel you have communicated your intentions and people still don't get what you are saying. You are constantly reacting. Every day dictates your direction. You are maintaining hope to one day re-focus on your purpose.

Can you see the gap widening and growing deeper?

That chasm between where you are now and where you imagined is the growth you require in building your Leadership Culture. How badly do you want to bridge that gap?
